WWE Survivor Series Reax #2: "Orton's win was needed as his rise to prominence is the breath of fresh air Raw needs."

Jon Gargis of Cartersville, Ga. (3.0): Best match/moment: Orton leads his team to victory. Worst match/moment: Jeff Hardy angle/Edge wins title. It's probably been said before, but the WWE has hit a new low. Just over three years since Eddie Guerrero died in his hotel room, the company that employed him makes up a story that another one of their superstars was found unconscious outside his hotel room. They later say he was hit by a blunt object, and a fans's logic seems to lead to the conclusion that the returning Edge was the one that hit Jeff with that object. So not only does the WWE play on fans's fears and belittle those such as Guerrero who gave their lives to the company, they also seemingly endorse and reward an employee that may have committed the crime of assault (if we are led to believe the storyline is real). But perhaps I and other fans should not be surprised. This is the company that had its chairman seemingly killed in a car bomb (only to return alive and well after a real wrestling death) and even this year had one of its superstars attempt to kill another star on live TV (or am I the only one who remembers JBL trying to run over John Cena?). ... Orton's win was needed as his rise to prominence is the breath of fresh air Raw needs. MVP earned his first pinfall in months; could an actual victory be far behind? Finally, I hated to see Jericho lose, but Cena can be a good champion if he goes back to being edgy or develops into a character that is more than a few catchphrases, motions, and merchandise available at WWEShop.com.

Zach Ward of Suffolk, England. (5.0): Best Match: Jericho vs. Cena. Worst Match: Triple H vs. Kozlov. My goodness, for one of the biggest WWE PPVs of the year, this really was a below par effort. After all the mixed reaction over the Jeff Hardy storyline, I was expecting WWE to pull something out of the bag, but I was disappointed. One of the reasons that I bought the PPV was to see Jeff Hardy wrestle. When I heard he wasn't going to appear, I was livid. The WWE Title match itself was simply awful. It really justified the fans frustration, because someone like Hardy would have been a breath of fresh air to that match, something different other than two men hugging each other for 15 minutes. Edge winning the title and hugging Vickie? I was completely dumbfounded; last time they were on the same show, she put Edge in a Hell in a Cell match with Undertaker. WWE needs to sort the booking out. Another thing that really bothered me, maybe just because I am English, is seeing Regal getting eliminated in seconds. I didn't think the IC title belt couldn't be more devalued, but I was wrong. Jericho-Cena match was a good way to end the show; it was always going to be a very good match with guys like Cena and Jericho in the mix. I was surprised that Cena won the belt; maybe this is the kick Raw needs to boost the dismal ratings. Casket match was also very disappointing. The Undertaker gimmick is good, but sometimes seeing the pyros going off in the middle of the match, druids, etc. should be left in the early 1990's. I'm simply loving Randy Orton at the moment; he has a new edge to his character, which the fans are taking to, and his chemistry/storyline with Cody Rhodes and Priceless is one very good reason to tune into Monday Night Raw. However, after WWE's controversy during the day and average PPV this evening, it is hard to imagine the buys will pick up for Armageddon next month.
