Reax to ECW TV - Oct. 28
Louise of London, U.K. (6.0): Best match: six-man tag. Worst match: only 2 matches being on the card! The six-man tag was strong and Bourne provided the entertainment as always. I was pleased with Henry not getting the pin, but I hoped it would have been Neely rather than Chavo. However, I am disturbed by the match being won through a pin on Hardy after he's displayed such brand carrying strength recently. He's doing such a good job I don't think he deserves to look weak. I also enjoyed the Swagger/Dreamer bout and I'm starting to understand why WWE is pushing Swagger so hard. As a regular Dirt Sheet watcher, I was actually disappointed with the live segment. It lost a little of its edginess and was overly-long. I rarely enjoy watching The Miz wrestle, but last night he carried the Dirt Sheet. ... How can they justify finding time for these unnecessary Cena segments, Survivor Series, and Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 plugs when they could have given us another match or two? I missed the in-ring action last night, but for the moment ECW is STILL generally better than Raw.
Reax to Hulk Hogan's CCW Week 2
Terrie Neilson, Las Vegas, Nev. (9.0): Best: Danny Bonaduce. Worst: commentary (though it wasn't bad). After week two of Hogan's show, I'm still interested in what's coming, despite the fact that I seem to tune him out. Probably my own bias, as he's not saying anything off the wall. He did expose an element of wrestling in one of his talking bits: the element of illusion of pain without actually hurting the opponent. That stuck out somewhat with the rest of that particular promo. Anyway, in the first few minutes it's established that this show is extremely short-term, as in the show is broadcast weekly, but it's been put together in a much shorter span. It made sense that the competitors would trade notes over the experience as well as start feeling the bragging groove. These guys weren't worried about "who did the job" and lost the match; they were worried about winning the whole competition. ... Not quite sure why Butterbean cutting one was included, except maybe to show this show is different than the regular weekly WWE and TNA programming. The commentary itself was okay (on par with last week), but the sound editing put the commentary ahead of what it being analyzed, catching things before the judges do. As for my scorecard, it was true what was said the previous episode that Danny Bonaduce seems like a natural fit here. He's got the heel nuances on the money and I'm curious if they challenge him to be face in a future show to really see what he can do. The show placed a lot of attention on the fact that not only did he nail this week's required moves, but added in the previous week's moves. Of course, the others may have as well, but it's hard to know considering the time frame of the show. As much as it was supposedly not taken into account, it's clear Frank Stallone was eliminated because he was the only one to fail the challenge. This challenge would have been better suited for later in the show to really test the mettle of the competitors. Next week's challenge should be very interesting and I'm looking forward to it.
PWTORCH FORMAT CONVENTIONS
For the sake of clarity to our readers (and to save us time editing these same things over and over), please follow these simple conventions when writing Torch Reax:
-Wrestlers teaming together should be connected with "&" symbol (e.g. Hunter & Michaels, Devon & Ray) or with a "/" (e.g. Animal/Hawk, Harris/Storm), but not dashes and not the word "and."
-To designate wrestlers who are fighting, feuding, or wrestling each other, put a dash (-) between them (e.g. Michaels-McMahon, Jarrett-Sting, Hogan-Andre) or use "vs."
-The word versus should always be abbreviated this way: "vs." with a period afterward (not "v." or "v/s" or "VS" or "VS." or any other way).
-Plus, it's just our policy, but we don't indulge wresting promotions' strange spelling fetishes where they spell Raw, Smackdown, Heat, Impact, etc. with the haphazard capitalization of various leTTeRz. It seems very "junior high," so no RAW (it's Raw), no iMPACT (it's Impact), etc.
-Please try to avoid overuse of dot-dot-dots. If you have a thought that's "trailing off," you can use for effect, but otherwise, just use periods, commas, and our personal favorite, semicolons if you dare. We have always had a policy of only one exclamation point and no ALL CAPS. Let your words convey the meaning of your point. There's many to choose from out there.
