TNA NEWS: Impact TV ratings are in - TNA draws highest rating in five months

TNA drew its highest Impact rating in five months on Thursday night.

The Impact episode on Thursday, December 12 scored a 1.11 rating, up one-tenth from a 1.02 rating last week. It was the highest rating since the "Destination X" Impact special on July 18.

Despite the overall rating increasing, Impact was even in the males 18-49 demo and down one-tenth of a rating in males 18-34 compared to last week.

The only demo that showed a substantial increase was teen males, which registered one of the highest m12-17 ratings of the year. This leaves the older audience outside of the m18-49 window as the other source of the ratings increase.

- Impact averaged 1.318 million viewers, up six percent from last week's show. It was the first time Impact hit the 1.3 mark in three months dating back to September 19, which was the week before Dixie Carter turned heel.

This week, TNA saved Carter's in-ring promo segment for the top of the second hour. Impact scored a show-high 1.19 rating in Q5, then Impact dropped off for the remainder of the show.

As a result of the Q6-Q8 downturn, Impact scored a lower second hour rating compared to the first hour for the sixth consecutive week and tenth week out of the past eleven.

- On cable TV Thursday night, Impact ranked #38 in overall viewers, a distant #30 in males 18-34, and #21 in males 18-49.

Caldwell's Analysis: As the quarter-hour TV ratings indicate Impact grew from Q1 to Q2, growing on the "Cops" lead-in audience. Whereas, most weeks, Impact begins a steady decline after Q1. Overall, the key to the whole show was attracting an older audience to make up for flat-to-underwhelming ratings in Spike's key demos of m18-34 & m18-49.
