By Wade Keller, Torch editor

There is a lot of conversation about Scott Hall being at the TNA Turning Point PPV on Sunday, including skepticism that he wasn't supposed to be involved in the main event. PWTorch can report the following which comes from multiple reliable sources:

-Scott Hall was not planned to be part of the Samoa Joe vs. Kevin Nash main event in any way.

-The reason Nash talked about Hall leading up to this event was because it's the back story for Nash's decision to turn on Joe. Joe bad-mouthed his friend Hall; Nash referenced that simply because it was the way to explain why he turned. There were no hints on air that Hall was returning or going to be involved.

-The people who were most upset with Hall being at the event were Nash and Joe. The storyline they wanted to convey in the match is that Joe took everything that Nash had and continued to kick out and was likely going to win if not for a low blow and his feet on the ropes. Nobody has ever kicked out of two Jackknifes by Nash except Undertaker.

-The storyline going forward is that Nash is going to refuse to fight Joe again because he beat him already, while in a heelish way coming across as a coward because he knows he might not get that lucky again. Lucky in the sense that he can get away with a low blow and feet on the ropes to score a tainted pin. No PPV rematches are scheduled for them, although they are scheduled to wrestle multiple times on an upcoming European tour. Eventually, Joe will get management to get him another shot at Nash after months of Nash doing everything he can to avoid a rematch. The match played out the way it did so Joe can build a case of outrage that he took everything Nash dished out and he couldn't pin him, and only after a low blow and feet on the ropes did Nash finally score the pin.

-To tell that story, Nash and Joe didn't need Hall. TNA management, Joe, and Nash were not going to build a storyline or even a match finish around the chronically unreliable Hall. They planned and built that match meticulously and even screened an old classic Sgt. Slaughter vs. Pat Patterson match for ideas.

-The concern backstage after Hall showed up at ringside was that fans would watch Nash-Joe and not pop for any nearfalls because they'd be assuming that the match would not end until Hall showed up to be integrally involved in the actual finish. Fortunately, the Hall appearance came early in the show and the announcers never referenced him by name and the camera never zoomed in on him, so it didn't seem to affect how fans reacted to the near falls by the time the match took place a couple hours later.

-If Hall was supposed to be involved in the finish, he had two hours to sober up before the match. Instead, the fact that he was escorted out of the building by security and off the premises entirely by Orlando police indicates what every source within TNA insists - with logical arguments backing it - which is that Hall was not supposed to be part of the show ever, at all, under any circumstances.

-Sheik Abdul Bashir and Rhino did not know ICP and Hall would be at ringside for their match. The decision to interact with them at ringside was a call they made on the fly. The crowd wasn't paying attention to what they were doing in the ring, so they went to ringside to try to address the "guests" quickly and then hopefully create a sense of closure and get the fans to pay attention to them in the ring for the rest of the match. It seemed to work. There is no storyline planned between Bashir and the ICP, despite Bashir slapping one of the ICP members after the ICP member threw a beverage at him.
