4/1 NEWS: WWE DVD "Jobbers: The Untold Story" to Come Out this Summer Apr 1, 2008 - 7:31:06 PM
WWE announced today the release of "Jobbers: The Untold Story." It will feature jobbers such as Willie Duncan, Duane Gill, and Sam Adams. WWE issued a statement claiming, "There's a huge untapped market for this group of athletes who, back in the '80s and early nineties, really carried a lot of superstars to excellent squash matches."
Trevor Knight was a jobber who many of his colleagues regarded as the wildest on what was then known as "the job circuit." Knight will reveal several inside stories regarding groupies and partying. According to Knight, the superstars "had nothing on us. Thing was, we got away with much much more. Management tended to look the other way when it came to us. I mean, anyone can have a five star match that lasts an hour. But really, to make a match superior in three minutes, and look really good even as you're getting your butt kicked. That takes a true artist."
Fred Higgins recalls fondly his days of getting pinned in under three minutes. "Easy money. And I think people'll be surprised to find out how much we really got paid."
No word yet whether the DVD package will include the rumored match between Hulk Hogan and jobber Davey Starr, where Starr kicked out of Hogan's leg drop, then as stunned fans looked on proceeded to shoot on Hogan and pin him. For years this match has been a hotly debated "urban legend" among hardcore fans. Nobody knows the reasons behind this incident supposedly taking place or if there is any footage, but it is rumored that Starr was ordered to do so by Vince McMahon himself, in order to "keep that damn egomaniac in line." Starr apparently left the country soon after, and hasn't been heard from since. Though according to sources in the company, Vince "knows where he is."
"Jobbers: The Untold Story" is believed to be slated for a summer release, and will coincide with the first annual JobberFest set to take place at the historic Madison Square Garden. WWE will promote it as being a night where not one match will go over two and a half minutes. "Management thinks there's a real viable market for this product," said a WWE source who begged not to be named.
