4/1 NEWS: Hogan and Bischoff negotiating with networks for Hulk Hogan Career Tribute Special Apr 1, 2008 - 4:31:45 PM
By Mark Coleman of Chicago, Ill. - PWTorch VIP Subscriber
On the heels of the Ric Flair tribute airing on Raw last night, according to an unnamed source, Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff are in negotiations with several top networks to air a Hulk Hogan career tribute special, which according to Hogan, promises to be "bigger than any wrestling tribute show anyone has ever seen."
"Last night I just watched some loser I beat years ago get a tribute show, and it sucked, brother," said Hogan. "Bored me to tears, more tears even than that sissy balled out in the ring. But what Eric and I are putting together will put that show to shame, brother. I can't get into the details right now, but believe me, you won't believe what we've got in the works. It will be huge."
Asked whether he was referring to the Ric Flair tribute show on Raw, Hogan replied, "Well, I saw some of it last night while I was working out. But I wasn't impressed, dude. I couldn't believe how bush-league it all was. All I saw were a bunch of old fogies being carted out, along with the young guys in the WWE locker room that were babies while I was selling out arenas, bodyslamming Andre the Giant in the Silverdome.
"After that I gave Eric a call, we're shooting the breeze and suddenly this idea hit me brother, a concept for a new show the likes of which have never been seen before. So Eric and I talked to some big network honchos and they all absolutely loved the concept. Right now we're just getting everything straightened out, dotting the I's and crossing the T's, getting ready to make it all happen."
Hogan continued, "It's a tribute to the career of Hulk Hogan, brother, highlighting the phenomenon of Hulkamania. You can't get bigger than that, dude. There will be some big stars on my show brother, I'm talking Shaquille O'Neal, Dennis Rodman, Brutus Beefcake, the Nasty Boys... the list goes on, dude. It will be huge. You thought the Flair tribute was big? You ain't seen nothing yet, brother. Whatcha gonna do, when the Hulk Hogan Tribute Show runs wild on you!"
