RADICAN'S ISW REVIEW SERIES
"SUMMER SLAMTASIA"
OTTAWA, ONTARIO
JUNE 15, 2013

Moohammad, the cow-missioner of Interspecies Wrestling came out to introduce the show. Moohammad is dressed like a cow and speaks with an Arabian accent. He warned the fans not to touch the animals during the show or they might get bit if they do.

Danny Havoc came out and said he was injured and couldn't face ISW champion Izzie Deadyet. Havoc said Matt Tremont would take his spot in the main event. The funny part about all of this is that Havoc was originally Tremont's replacement and now Tremont is replacing his replacement.

Tremont told the fans he has a clean bill of health. He said he would an end to Izzie Deadyet's championship reign to tonight.

1 - El Hijo Del Bamboo vs. Jaka. This is a match-up of a giant panda and a savage, so it should be interesting to say the least. Jaka and Bamboo seemed to be getting along well as they playfully tapped each other while sitting down inside the ring. Moohammad then tossed a banana in the ring and they began fighting over it. The crowd urged Jaka and Bamboo to share the banana. Bamboo refused to share it, so Jaka began to attack him. Jaka ate some of the banana and dropped the banana peel on the mat. Bamboo mounted a comeback and showed amazing athleticism for a panda, but be ended up slipping on the banana peel and Jaka hit a chokebomb for the win.

WINNER: Jaka. This was a comedy match and both men did a good job of playing their respective roles here. I found myself laughing several times, especially once the banana was introduced into the equation.

2 - Mathieu St. Jacques vs. Dan Barry. This was originally supposed to be a tag match, Tabernak De Team vs. Team Tremendous. Barry said Carr couldn't be in the match because he beat up a jaywalker. Barry said he was in Canada to investigate an illegal denim ring. St. Jacques dominated the action during the early stages of the match and cut off Barry each time he began to mount a comeback. Barry mounted a big comeback and ran wild on St. Jacques. St. Jacques caught Barry charging at him and hit a big spine buster. Barry went for a sunset flip, but St. Jacques sat down on him and grabbed the ropes for leverage to get the win.

WINNER: Mathieu St. Jacques - The match didn't last long and St. Jacques dominate most of the action until Barry mounted a comeback. I guess we'll never find out what St. Jacques knows about the illegal denim ring.

Each match had a sponsor that appeared to be fake, although the show itself did have a real sponsor. The third match was presented by the Guantanamo Bay Tourist Association.

3 - Oni the Leopard vs. Amasis. Amasis was a surprise on the now, as he answered Oni's open challenge. Amasis went got a dive, but Oni caught him with a kick as he came through the ropes. Oni worked over Amasis for a long period of time. Amasis ended up sending Oni off the apron with an enzuguri. He then followed up with a big flip dive over the rope to the floor that set the crowd on fire. Amasis was slow to recover, as Oni got back into the ring before Amasis. They went back and forth exchanging blows in the ring until Amasis caught Oni with a Pele kick.

The fans started a "Meow Mix" chant as Amasis worked over Oni. Oni ended up catching Amasis with a forearm as he came off the ropes. He then hit a huge leg capture suplex on Amasis for the win.

WINNER: Oni the Leopard - The action was good throughout, but the match was short and the finish was abrupt. These two definitely could have done more if they were given more time. The highlight of the match was the fans chanting the Meow Mix song.

Tiger got on the mic before the match and said he had had a bad day. He said someone beat him up for jaywalking. That was hilarious. He said someone then stole his grill. Tiger said he thought it was St. Giovanni stole his grill. He said after he won the match he would make pork chops for everyone.

4 - Jae Rukin vs. Craigslist (w/Ricky Glaadcliff) vs. Leon St. Giovanni vs. Giant Tiger. The fans chanted "He took your barbecue at St. Giovanni." The announcers teased tension between Craigslist and Rukin once they tagged in. LSG whipped Craigslist, who plays a homosexual character, in the corner and he ended up liking it and asked LSG to whip him again. The action continued at a rapid pace with Rukin wiping out LSG with a dive to the floor. Rukin cut off LSG going for a dive and ripped off his mustache. The fans chanted "Holy s---."

Glaadcliff tried to hit Tiger with a sneaker, but he missed and hit Craigslist by accident. Tiger then hit a very lewd bronco buster on Glaadcliff in the corner. Tiger followed with a no-hands pedigree on Craigslist for the win.

WINNER: Giant Tiger - Some of the sequences were a little sloppy, but there was some funny comedy in the match and the commentary from Rotch and Uno was fun as well.

The fifth match was sponsored by Crunchy Peanut butter. Their tagline is "Screw your kids and their allergies." Wow.

(5) Dirty S--- (Buxx Belmar & S---y) vs. The Food Fighters (Pasquale the Italian Chef & Bastian Snow). Belmar puked on his partner as they made their entrance. Dirty used disgusting tactics to get the upper hand during the early stages of the match. Snow, who is a crab, took a beating for a long period of time. Belmar fisted Snow with a condom on his hand at one point. Snow used his shell to counter Dirty. He rolled under the ropes and Pasquale was able to legally enter the ring and he ran wild.

Snow eventually made a blind tag and applied a double Boston crab on Dirty, but they both got the ropes. Belmar blew up the condom and used it as a weapon on The Food Fighters. Dirty tried to use a fan as a weapon, but the Food Fighters caught the fan and used him as a battering ram to wipe out Dirty on the outside. The fans fired up and chanted ISW. Dirty isolated Snow and nailed him with a seemingly endless string of high impact maneuvers, but Pasquale made the save with a big loaf of bread. Both teams went back and forth and Pasquale ended up slamming Snow off the top onto both members of Dirty. He then covered S----y for the win.

After the match, Pasquale cleaned S----y with a cleaning brush and Belmar wouldn't even help his own partner.

WINNERS: The Food Fighters - Belmar and S----y are both disgusting in the ring and they do some downright nasty things to their opponents, so it was fun seeing the Food Fighters get the win in the end. The Food Fighters cleaning S----y with a bathroom brush after the match was classic.

Addy Starr was supposed to face Frankie Arian, but he didn't make it to the show. The fans popped huge when Sanchez was announced as Starr's new opponent.

6 - King of Crazy Champion Pinkie Sanchez vs. Addy Starr. The fans chanted "Daddy issues" at Starr during the early stages of the match. Starr nailed Sanchez with two big forearms, so Sanchez slapped her across the face and she collapsed to the mat. Starr went for a dive through the ropes, but Sanchez nailed her in the head with his title belt as she came through the ropes and she took a nasty looking spill to the floor.

They went back and forth on the outside. Starr set up Sanchez on a chair and nailed him with a running senton off the apron. Starr appeared to have another bad landing on the floor after that spot. Sanchez took control back inside the ring and began working Starr over. The fans chanted "ISW, ISW" after the chair spot. They went back and forth and traded some hard chops. Sanchez eventually set up Starr on the top turnbuckle and nailed her with an inverted huracanrana off the top for a near fall. Starr got the upper hand and eventually hit Samchez with a code red for a two count. Starr hit the mind trip on Sanchez, but he kicked out at the last second once again. Starr ended up getting the pin after two sliding forearms to the head.

WINNER: Addy Starr to become the new King of Crazy Champion - The action was good and the fans were into it, but they went a little long and lost the crowd down the stretch with of the near falls. From an in-ring standpoint this was a good match with some solid hard-hitting action.

The seventh match was announced as being sponsored by the Craigslist heel. A picture of his what next to his name appeared on the screen.

7 - Kitsune vs. Michael Von Payton. Kitsune lit up Von Payton with a crazy sequence of kicks, but Von Payton caught him coming off the top and nailed him with a big spine buster. Von Payton dominated the action for a long period of time. He eventually went up too, but Kitsune nailed him with a kick when he went for a dive off the top. Kitsune hit some impressive high-flying maneuvers capped by standing moonsault into a double knee strike for a two count. Kitsune executed an insane maneuver where he floated over Von Payton and nailed him with a jack knife powerbomb before floating over into a pinning combination for a near fall. That sequence really woke the fans up.

Von Payton got the upper hand and began working Kitsune over once again. Kitsune sent Von Payton to the floor and nailed him with a big dive over the top to the floor. The fans fired up and a short time later Kitsune hit an Asai moonsault to the floor. Kitsune hit an insane running corkscrew press for a nearfall. He ended up missing a Phoenix splash off the second turnbuckle and Von Payton hit him with a cradle breaker for a two count. Kitsune got his boots up when Von Payton charged at him in the corner. He then hit a gorgeous SSP for the win.

WINNER: Kitsune - I hadn't seen Kitsune before, but he is an amazing high-flyer that mixes in karate style kicks into his offense. These two had a really good back and forth match and for the first time on the show the crowd really got into the action, especially during the second half of the match when Kitsune busted out some insane high-flying maneuvers. (***1/2)

The main event is brought to you by Preparation H.

8 - ISW Champion Izzie Deadyet (w/Female Zombie) vs. Matt Tremont. Izzie Deadyet is a zombie. Tremont came down to the ring with Legos. Tremont took control on the outside and held Deadyet for several fans to chop him. The fans chanted for Legos, but Tremont ended up hitting Deadyet with a big suplex on the floor. Deadyet fired back and went for a dive, but Tremont nailed him with the box of Legos. The ring was covered in Legos as Tremont want on the attack. Deadyet countered Tremont and nailed him with a bulldog into the Legos. Tremont dominated the action for a long period time and the ref was forced to slap his hand into the Legos to count pin falls.

They battled out to the apron near a table. Deadyet went for a hurricanrana from the top to the floor, but Tremont countered it into a super bomb through the table and the fans fired up. Tremont brought another table down to the ring, but Deadyet cut him off. Deadyet put Tremont on the table and it collapsed right away. Deadyet followed up with an elbow from the top to the floor. They went back and forth inside the ring. Deadyet put the Legos inside Tremont's mouth and nailed him with a shining wizard for the win.

WINNER: Izzie Deadyet to retain the ISW Championship - I just couldn't get into this match. It was a basic brawl around the ring with bumps through tables and into Legos. The table breaking under Tremont's weight down the stretch took things down a both and they never really recovered from there.

Tremont got on the mic and thanked the fans to end the show.

They showed Craigslist and Ricky Glaadcliff talking backstage while the closing credits rolled. Glaadcliff got upset when Craiglist insinuated that he was gay and shoved him out of his chair.

Overall thoughts: (6.5) - ISW is unlike other wrestling promotions, as they have a mix of gimmicks with everything from crabs to pandas to homosexual characters to hardcore brawling zombies.

The comedy-based matches were funny and I really enjoyed a lot of the action. The opening match between Bamboo and Jaka that was based around them brawling around a banana got the show off to a good start.

The card slowed down a bit in the middle, but picked up down the stretch. Starr-Sanchez was a good hard-hitting encounter with Starr getting the win to capture the King of Crazy Championship.

I was most impressed with the Kitsune-Von Payton match. Kitsune was amazing to watch and he pulled off some incredible maneuvers that set the crowd on fire. I can't wait to see more of him in the future.

The main event between Tremont and Deadyet was a bit of a letdown. It was a standard walk and brawl hardcore style match. I just couldn't get into it and I totally checked out after Deadyet put Tremont on a table and it broke under his weight right away.

I give this show a mild thumbs up. There's a lot to like about ISW. Many of the gimmicks are funny and when what they're going for clicks, this is a very entertaining promotion. The small crowd didn't help the atmosphere for the show either, but they did make some noise when the action was hot. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more of ISW in the future.
