Pro Wrestling Torch was established in 1987 by Wade Keller. One of the primary traits PWTorch has been credited with over the years is assembling the best and most diverse staff of columnists with broad knowledge, but also areas of specialty where they have a particularly strong grasp of history. Every day PWTorch.com presents that team of writers answering your questions, some of which are fact-based and others of which are opinion-based. Either way, we've got you covered with Bruce Mitchell, Pat McNeill, Sean Radican, Greg Parks, James Caldwell, and Wade Keller. Collectively they have over 80 years working for the Torch, writing about wrestling and studying industry history and trends.

If you have a question you'd like us to respond to, send your question to askpwtorch@gmail.com. I, along with the Torch staff, will address you questions in this feature and also the “Ask PWTorch: All-Star Panel” edition which is also published most days here at PWTorch.

===

PWTorch reader Aaron P. asks: If Rey Mysterio is done with WWE and going back to wrestle for AAA in Mexico, would he be able to keep his mask seeing as he lost it in WCW? Don't they take that sort of thing a lot more seriously in Mexico than in WWE?

PWTorch columnist Pat McNeill answers: If WWE's willing to ignore what happened in the last year of World Championship Wrestling, I'm pretty sure AAA can do the same.

===

PWTorch reader & VIP member Ric D. asks: Why is pulling yourself up and over the ropes while hanging on the outside called "skinning the cat"?

PWTorch senior columnist Bruce Mitchell answers: It's called "Skin the Cat" after the similar move of the same name kids do on the monkey bars at the playground.

===

PWTorch reader Michael S. asks: Do you agree that the timing of the WWE announcement about adding advertisements to the Network was ill advised. You would think that at a time where they are trying to build their base numbers, this would be a big negative. I will think twice when my six months are over? Do you agree?

PWTorch columnist Greg Parks answers: I don't know if there's really a "good time" to make that kind of announcement, but WWE needs to recoup some money from the Network numbers not being as high as they'd like, so waiting until the Network gains a lot more traction (whenever that may be) would defeat the purpose of putting the ads in. To be honest, I don't think this should have a great effect on viewers of the Network as far as renewing; even with the ads, to me, $9.99 a month is a bargain for the content offered.

===

PWTorch reader Dan B. asks: On WWE's "Monday Night War" DVD from 2004, Vince McMahon said something to the effect of: "Ted Turner deliberately tried to hurt his competition, whereas I had a different philosophy." He also claimed that he "paid no attention" to WCW's product when they were ahead in the ratings. Does Vince McMahon honestly believe either of these things (conveniently overlooking the dirty tactics he used against the NWA in the 1980s), or is this just 'spin' for his WWE audience to digest?

PWTorch columnist Sean Radican answers: I think this is just spin. Nobody caused more hurt than Vince McMahon when he took WWE national and picked the top talent away from various territories in the '80s. McMahon making claims that Turner deliberately tried to hurt his competition is total spin to make himself and WWE the babyfaces. WWE paid a lot of attention to WCW during the Monday Night Wars, so that's another lie as well as far as I know. McMahon won the war, so he's going to be able to tell get the final say in how the story of the Monday Night Wars is told, but it's not going to be 100 percent true.

PWTorch editor Wade Keller answers: I'll add to what Sean said. Vince gets the final say in terms of reaching today's pro wrestling fans on his TV shows, but we are part of the final say, and the documented history of the business the last 27 years in the Pro Wrestling Torch Weekly Newsletter will be referenced, along with other credible objective sources, more often than McMahon by true historians or people wanting to find another perspective than Vince's understandably self-serving one.
