Sting granted a rare interview with the Houston Chronicle previewing the Night of Champions PPV Sunday in Houston.

Sting also talked about his decision to leave "another group" (TNA) for his first-ever career run with WWE.

"Quite honestly, I never thought it would happen, that I'd be in the WWE, but here I am," Sting told long-time Chronicle reporter Ken Hoffman. "Whether I was right or wrong, I made a decision to stay with another group that came to the table with everything I was asking for. I stayed apart from WWE, and I was fine. This year, I figured it was time."

Sting said the reception from WWE fans has made it feel like he's "starting my career all over again" after 30 years in the business.

Before the PPV at Toyota Center, former WWE announcer Jim Ross has a one-man show a few blocks away at Warehouse Live.

Ross talked to Hoffman about what attendees can expect from the show, which begins at 4:00 p.m. CST prior to the 6:30 PPV start-time.

"I'm not a comedian. I'm a storyteller," Ross said. "I always add some local flavor to these shows, so I'll be talking about Paul Boesch and his Houston promotion. I'll have a VIP session before the show with a photo-op and autographs."
