Action Figure Spotlight #71: Diesel and Kevin Nash Mattel WWE Elite Series 16

Kevin Nash has been a part of wrestling action figure sets since 1996, when Jakks Pacific included him (as Diesel) in its new line of WWF action figures. Since then he has appeared in toy lines from WCW (OSFTM, Toy Biz), WWE (Jakks and Mattel), and TNA (Jakks). There are even a few vintage Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Super Shredder figures out there.

Two of Nash’s most popular figures were included in the 16th series of WWE Elite figures from Mattel in 2012. For that series, Mattel produced a Flashback figure WWF Champion Diesel. The figure had jet black hair, a silver tank top, and black pants, and came with a removable black vest and classic WWF World Title belt.

Mattel’s Elite Series 16 also included a scarcer “chase” figure of Kevin Nash. This figure had brown hair and was dressed in a red top and pants, with “The Outsiders” printed on the tank top. The figure also came with a WCW World Title belt with “NWO” spray-painted over it.

At the time these figures were released, the Nash figure was the much scarcer and more valuable of the two. The Diesel figure was pretty easy to find at retail stores for under $20. However, the Nash figure wasn’t even included one per case, so it was very tough to find, and often sold for $100 on eBay.

Today, the Diesel figure is even more popular than the Nash figure. The Nash figure has held its value, usually selling in the $100-110 range. However, the Diesel figure has jumped to $110-130.
