In Brief: Bruiser Brody was one of wrestling's top stars of the 1980s, but his first action figure wasn't released until 2006.

During his heyday, fewer wrestlers were bigger than Bruiser Brody – literally and figuratively. Brody was a huge star everywhere from Texas to Japan, but it wasn’t until almost 20 years after his murder that Brody got his own action figure.

In 2006 Jakks released a Bruiser Brody toy as a part of its eigth series of Classic WWE Superstars. Brody was never a flashy guy, so the figure presented him as he was: plain black tights and boots, along with furry boot coverings and a silver chain.

Brody was one of the few wrestlers included in this line who never had a major WWF run. Most of the figures that Jakks produced were of wrestlers who were tenured WWF superstars (Hulk Hogan, Bruno Sammartino, Bret Hart) or flashes in the pan who later became the punch lines of sometimes cruel WWE jokes (Bastion Booger, Giant Gonzalez, The Shockmaster).

Brody had a brief main event run in the AWA as a heel in the mid-1980s, but was never included in Remco’s line of AWA wrestling figures. The aura and mystique that always surrounded Brody had fans clamoring for a toy of the legendary brawler, and Jakks obliged.

Today the figure is fairly easy to find, and usually can be found for under $15 loose or around $20-25 packaged.

Jakks also made figures of some of Brody’s legendary foes, such as Abdullah the Butcher, the Fabulous Freebirds, and Kamala. There are several Jakks figures of Lex Luger, whose infamous match with Brody has generated much discussion among younger fans who have watched it on YouTube. Brody’s AWA protégé John Nord also has a Jakks figure as the Berzerker. In 2011, Mattel released the first modern era figures of Kerry and Kevin Von Erich, regular partners of Brody in World Class Championship Wrestling.
