Lucha Underground Report
July 15, 2015
Taped in Los Angeles, Calif.
Episode #36 aired on El Rey Network
Report by Joel Dehnel, PWTorch contributor

The show opened with a video package featuring Dario, Sexy Star, Super Fly, and more Lucha stars.

Backstage: Dario was looking at his medallions. He said three of them will be given away tonight. He asked Pentagon if he would compete for them tonight. Pentagon declined and said the medallions mean nothing to him; he only wants to face Vampiro. Dario asked when he would meet Pentagon's master and Pentagon said he will reveal himself when he is ready.

Opening credits rolled which brought us to The Temple to begin the show.

Announcers: Vampiro welcomed the audience to the show. Matt Striker said that Prince Puma and Mil Muertes would come face to face later tonight.

In-ring: Santos said the first match tonight would be for one of the medallions. First in the ring was Bengala. Second out was Delavar Daivari.

1 – BENGALA vs. DELAVAR DAIVARI (w/Big Ryck) - match for an ancient Aztec medallion

Bengala flipped off the ropes for an armdrag, then hit a dive to the outside. Daivari pretended to be hurt and Ryck knocked Bengala off the ropes. Daivari threw Bengala to the outside then back in.

Back in the ring, Bengala crossed Daivari's legs and went for a pin, then hit a superkick. Bengala dove onto Ryck outside. Daivari caught Bengala on the top turnbuckle and hit a superplex. Bengala threw Daivari into Ryck then hit a German Suplex for the win.

WINNER: Bengala at 3:31 to win one of the seven medallions.

Post-match: Vampiro walked off headset and into the ring.

[Break]

In-ring: Vampiro said he has been around for a very long time and he's said that Pentagon, Jr. has pushed him with his attack last week. He said Pentagon reminds him of himself when he was younger. Pentagon's music cut off Vampiro and he made his way to the ring.

Pentagon mocked Vampiro and said he wants an answer. Vampiro told Pentagon to stop. He said Ian Hodgkinson is not going to be the one Pentagon will face because the guy who's going to kick Pentagon's ass is Vampiro. Vampiro grabbed Pentagon and chokeslammed him.

[Break]

Backstage: Sexy Star was preparing for her match when she found Super Fly's mask in her purse. They went to a flashback of when Super Fly lost his mask.

In-ring: Santos introduced King Cuerno already in the ring. His opponent is Killshot.

2 – KING CUERNO vs. KILLSHOT - match for an ancient Aztec medallion

Cuerno backed Killshot into the corner, then he kicked and chopped him. Killshot escaped the corner, then hit a dropkick. He gave the Killshot a gesture, then kicked Cuerno in the head. Cuerno knocked Killshot out of the ring. Cuerno went for a dive, but Killshot stopped him with a kick to the head.

Back in the ring, Killshot hit a Diamond Cutter. Cuerno then fled the ring and Killshot hit a huracanrana. Killshot tried to kick Cuerno on the apron, but Cuerno grabbed Killshot and slammed him on the apron.

In the ring, Cuerno stomped on Killshot, but Killshot threw Cuerno in the corner. Cuerno reversed the action and Killshot landed a cross-body. Cuerno came back with a reverse huracanrana, then a suicide dive. Cuerno went for Thrill of the Hunt, but Killshot escaped and Cuerno and hit a flapjack. Cuerno tied up Killshot's legs and pulled on his neck for the submission victory.

WINNER: King Cuerno at 6:07 via submission.

[Break]

In-ring: Santos introduced Super Fly to the ring. His opponent tonight is Sexy Star. This match was for another medallion.

3 -- SUPER FLY vs. SEXY STAR - match for an ancient Aztec medallion

Super Fly grabbed Star, then he dropkicked her. She kicked him, though, and planted his face into the mat. She then submitted him with an armbar.

WINNER: Sexy Star at 0:33 via submission.

Post-match: Marty Martinez came out to the ring and asked to see Sexy Star's medallion. Marty said that the Aztec gold represents his tribe and he requested a match with her right now.

4 -- SEXY STAR vs. MARTY 'THE MOTH' MARTINEZ - match for an ancient Aztec medallion

Star kicked Marty, then dove off the top for an armdrag. She went for a cross-body, but Marty caught her and hit a scoop slam. Star rammed into Marty, sending her to the mat. Marty locked in a figure-four leglock, but She flipped over the maneuver and Marty got to the ropes. Star then slammed Marty and submitted him with an armbar.

WINNER: Sexy Star at 2:19 via submission.

[Break]

Announcers: Striker and Vampiro ran down the line-up for Ultima Lucha.

(1) AAA Grand Champion Alberto El Patron vs. Johnny Mundo.

(2) Angélico & Son of Havoc & Ivelisse vs. Disciples of Death - Trios Tag Championship match.

(3) Drago vs. Hernandez
(4) Vampiro vs. Pentagon, Jr.
(5) Texano vs. Blue Demon, Jr.
(6) Main Event - Prince Puma vs. Mil Muertes - Lucha Underground Championship match

In-ring: Dario stood in the ring and introduced Prince Puma. Next out was Mil Muertes. Both men stood toe-to-toe. Then, Catrina stood at the top of the steps and walked down. Dario told her she had to leave. Meanwhile, Puma and Muertes fought back and forth, then The Disciple took out Puma. Konnan beat down The Disciples with his cane, but Muertes grabbed the cane and beat down Konnan. Catrina hit Konnan over the head with a stone, then The Disciples rolled Konnan into a coffin. Muertes held onto Puma and made him watch as the show ended.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Really good hype towards Ultima Lucha. It has been a nice, slow build without throwing these matches out there.

SUMMARY RESULTS: (1) Bengala pinned Daivari to win a medallion... (2) King Cuerno submitted Killshot for a medallion... (3) Sexy Star beat Marty Martinez and Super Fly for a medallion.
