WEEKEND PREVIEW, NEWS & NOTES
This is a light weekend for pro wrestling, as only Ring of Honor is running of the major indies.
Samoa Joe is injured and will not wrestle on the ROH shows this weekend, but he will be attendance. For most of the past year, ROH has built up the question of whether Homicide would win the ROH title this year; he’s stated that if he doesn’t win it, he will leave ROH. So, Homicide will face Bryan Danielson, with both men suffering from shoulder injuries. It should be an epic weekend!
In other news…
Full Impact Pro has announced the roster for its next shows on Jan. 12 & 13, featuring Roderick Strong, Bryan Danielson, Shingo, Jimmy Rave, Jack Evans. Also, Jimmy Jacobs will make his FIP debut. IWC wrestler Shiima Xion out of the Pittsburgh area also will debut. Chikara wrestlers Larry Sweeney and Gran Akuma made good impressions last weekend and also will return.
Combat Zone Wrestling has announced its first 2007 show will be on Jan. 13, with Chris Hero vs. Justice Pain and Jigsaw vs. Hallowicked.
IWA-Mid South has posted results of all 31 shows it held this year on its Website at www.iwamidsouthwrestling.com. The 4/1 show and the TPI events topped their year.
Raven has been added to the next Maryland Championship Wrestling show on Dec. 28.
Zach Gowen will head to Cleveland All Pro for its next show on Jan. 14.
The Nu-Wrestling Evolution tour across Italy has concluded. The lineup featured wrestlers like Vampiro, Matt Morgan, Ultimo Dragon, John Heidenreich and Juventud Guerrera. Learn more about this promotion at www.nwewrestling.com.
** I will likely have just one post next week, probably Thursday, as this is a slow time for indy wrestling, and I’m taking a few days off! I plan to finish up watching & reviewing the IWA-Mid South anniversary show (with Low Ki vs. Chris Hero) today, then I’ll move on to the rest of the PWG “BOLA”, the ROH 10/27 DVD, and Shimmer Volume 5! Reviews are pending!
And you can always reach me with your indy results at chrisjvetter@hotmail.com. I request that you remember to say date, location (including building, city & state!), and full name of the promotion.
