By Chris Vetter, Torch Contributor

Torch Indy Reporter Chris Vetter travels thousands of miles each year to see dozens of indy shows all over the Midwest. His reports covering the entire U.S. Indy Scene are usually published exclusively here at PWTorch.com every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

WEEKEND PREVIEW, NEWS & NOTES

Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone! There are several big indy shows this weekend, with FIP running a pair in Florida, IWA-MS running two nights in the Midwest, and PWG back for another big show in California.

Full Impact Pro is in Orlando, Fla., tonight. I reviewed one of their newest releases earlier this week, and FIP is definitely on the right track. FIP has a huge match tonight, with American Dragon vs. Roderick Strong. The series between these two in ROH has been great, and I would fully expect Strong to turn Dragon’s chest red all over again. Also tonight will be Colt Cabana vs. Tony Mamaluke and matches featuring Kory “Rainman” Chavis, Austin Aries, Jimmy Rave, Jack Evans, Sal Rinauro, Jay Fury, Steve Madison, Jerrelle Clark, and the Heartbreak Express.

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla is back in Los Angeles, Calif., on Saturday with Joey Ryan vs. Chris Sabin, Super Dragon & Davey Richards vs. A.J. Styles & Christopher Daniels, Kevin Steen vs. B-Boy,, Arrogance vs. Cape Fear, Scorpio Sky vs. Human Tornado. This looks like a good lineup, and read more about this promotion at www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com.

International Wrestling Cartel is in Elizabeth, Penn., on Saturday with a strong lineup featuring Low Ki vs. Fabulous John McChesney. I’ve mentioned this before – McChesney scored a huge upset pin on Low Ki in April 2005 in IWC, so there is a big revenge factor in this match. Other matches include Sterling James Keenan vs. Shirley Doe, Abyss vs. Dennis Gregory, The Gambino Brothers vs. M-Dogg 20 & Josh Prohibition, Troy Lords vs. Shiima Xion, Jason Gory & KUDO vs. Larry Sweeney & a mystery partner.

IWA-Mid South returns to its strongest-drawing venue in Midlothian, Ill., on Saturday with Arik Cannon vs. Josh Abercrombie, Ian Rotten & Madman Pondo vs. The Iron Saints, Chuckie Smooth vs. CJ Otis, Eddie Kingston vs. Chuck Taylor, Trik Davis vs. Ryan Cruz, Billy Rocc vs. Darin Corbin, Toby Klein vs. Jigsaw, Tyler Black & Marek Brave vs. Crazy J & Lotus, Brandon Thomaselli vs. Ricochet. The IWA-Mid South roster has changed a bit this year, and I admit, I don’t know all these wrestlers yet. I plan on purchasing a tape of this show.

I will be at the Northern Impact Wrestling show on Sunday in Forest Lake, Minn., featuring Arik Cannon, Cody O’Neill, Kid Krazy, Punisher Rob James, Ryan Cruz, Darin Corbin, Nate Bash and Ben Sailer. Check out this promotion at www.niwwrestling.com.

In news on future shows…

Austin Aries will return to MN on Sunday, April 9, to face Cody O’Neill in Neo Pro Wrestling. Aries was my No. 1 wrestler in MN/WI in 2003; O’Neill received that spot in 2005. These two have met before, but this match should top their prior meeting, as both are vastly improved. Check out www.neoprowrestling.com.

And you can always reach me with your indy results at chrisjvetter@hotmail.com. I request that you remember to say date, location (including building, city & state!), and full name of the promotion.
