"Girls Gone Dead" featuring Jerry Lawler

I am a big fan of B-Grade films. The worse, the better. Last week, Amazon caught my eye with a flick called "Girls Gone Dead" that listed WWE announcer Jerry Lawler on the top billing. That sealed it for me, I had to watch it. There is no point in really reviewing the film here, as the cover art sums it up pretty accurately. I will say that the production values were much better than I expected, and that it had a number of genuinely funny moments.

Lawler plays the role of "Jackson Cole," the sheriff of the town that the girls in the film are partying in. He appears for about five minutes of total screen time, but in his longest scene, he utterly stole the entire movie. He played his role fine enough (at one point he ogled some women in bikinis and I almost expected him to mention "puppies,") but they used him and his history with professional wrestling perfectly.

For an additional laugh, make sure that you sit through the credits, as they have some outtakes and his installment is truly funny, especially if you know anything about his history with women.

I think that if anyone currently on WWE TV other than Jerry Lawler or Chris Jericho appeared in an outside project even remotely like this, they'd find themselves lucky to lose to Zack Ryder on Superstars pretty quickly. But, I am glad that Lawler appeared in this film, giving some truly funny moments that blended his real-life persona, his wrestling character, and a B-Grade film script.

After watching this, I really wish that Lawler had appeared as himself in "Ready to Rumble" instead of the fake "King" that they had.
