WWE Live show results
August 15, 2015
Detroit, Mich. at Joe Louis Arena
Report by Joe from Warren, Mich.

Overall, the show was decent for a house show in my opinion. They started off with the WWE call sign "Then, Now, and Forever." Next, Triple H came up in a pre-recorded video welcoming everyone to WWE Live. He then asked the crowd the traditional: "Are you ready?!"

Eden Stiles came out and announced to the crowd that John Cena will not be at the event tonight because of his injury on Raw two weeks ago. As soon as she finished her sentence Kevin Owens's music hit. Kevin heeled on the crowd to some good heat. He said since Cena’s not here "I’m going to take the night off." Cue Chris Jericho’s music. Jericho had a nice back and forth with Owens in the ring. He ended up taking Owens's mic from him to laughs from the crowd. After the back and forth, Jericho asked for a match between the two and ended up comically hitting Owens in the head with the mic to start the match.

(1) Chris Jericho beat Kevin Owens via pinfall. Good back and forth match. Jericho hit many of his signature Jericho moves. The end came when Owens tried to do the pop-up powerbomb, but Jericho hopped over and nailed Owens with the Codebreaker for the three count. (**1/2)

(2) Zack Ryder & Damien Sandow & Curtis Axel beat Los Matadores & Bo Dallas via pinfall in a six-man tag match. Damien and Curtis shredded the Mega Powers act as it was just original Damien Sandow and Curtis Axel. The match was more for the younger audience with most of the match done for comic relief. Nothing big to report in this match, as Ryder hit Diego with the Rough Ryder for the three count. (**)

(3) Sheamus beat Fandango in less than two minutes with a Brogue Kick. Sheamus came out with the MITB briefcase. After the match, Sheamus picked up the mic and riled up the crowd. He grabbed his briefcase and said maybe there is an opportunity for later on and walked out.

(4) Neville pinned Stardust. Good back-and-forth in this match. Neville is a treat to see live with his arsenal of moves through the air. Stardust did a lot of pandering to the crowd. It looked to me like they were practicing some spots for Summerslam. Neville hit Red Arrow for the three count and the win. (***)

(5) Prime Time Players (Titus O'Neil & Darren Young) beat New Day (Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston) to retain the WWE Tag Titles. Lots of what we've seen in the previous pay-per-views when they fought. Titus hit the Clash of the Titus on Kofi for the pin and the win. After the match, Prime Time Players worked the crowd and brought some kids on the apron to do the Millions of Dollars dance. (**)

After a 15-minute intermission it was time to reveal the Twitter vote for the Divas match. It was a choice between a Divas Tag Team match or a one-on-one Divas match. Tag Team match won the vote.

(6) Charlotte & Paige (w/Becky Lynch) beat Brie Bella & Alicia Fox via submission. Divas champion Nikki Bella was not there. Nothing much in this match outside of continuing to build up the younger Divas talent on the roster. Charlotte put Fox in the Figure Eight for the tap-out win. (**)

(7) Cesaro beat Rusev (w/Summer Rae) via pinfall. This was a continuation of the great matches these two have had on TV. Great back-and-forth and chemistry between these two in the ring. Both hit their big signature moves. The end came when Lana appeared from nowhere and started slapping around Summer. This distracted Rusev enough for Cesaro to roll up Rusev for the pin and the win. (****)

(8) WWE World Hvt. champion Seth Rollins pinned Dean Ambrose in a Street Fight to retain the WWE World Title. These two know each other very well and that’s why this was easily the best match of the night. Seth took control early attacking Dean off the get-go, not letting Eden introduce him. A bunch of good spots in this match with both men hitting their finishers and the other kicking out. Seth put a table in the corner and put Ambrose through it with his powerbomb. At one point near the end, Seth tried to pull out another table and set it up but it had a broken leg. The back-up table also had a broken, so they used it later in the match, just setting up the table with one leg. The end came when Ambrose elbow-dropped Seth from the top through a table. Dean crawled to cover Seth and after a two count, Sheamus pulled Dean out of the ring. Sheamus teased cashing in MITB by setting up Seth for a Brogue Kick, but he was clotheslined out of the ring by Ambrose. Seth took advantage by hitting the Pedigree for the win. (****)

After the match, Sheamus came back in and Ambrose cleared the ring to send the crowd home happy.
