Chikara "Afternoon Delight" Results
April 6, 2015
London, England at The Garage
Report by Dave Green, PWTorch correspondent

After a great pre-show featuring popular U.K. wrestlers, the main show kicked off with a trios match as part of the Challenge of the Immortals series.

(1) Battle Hive (Amasis & Fire Ant & Worker Ant) beat The United Nations (Juan Francisco de Coronado & Prakash Sabar & Mr Azerbaijan) in a six-man tag match. Very fun opening match, with Mr A. being particularly entertaining. Battle Hive got the win with the Ant Hill pinning Coronado.

(2) Blind Rage beat Ultramantis Black. Decent bout between these former stablemates. Ultramantis got a huge reaction from the crowd. Frightmare ran interference allowing Blind Rage to get the win in what was a disappointingly weak-looking finish.

(3) Dasher Hatfield & Hype Rockwell & Kodama beat Mr. Touchdown & Race Jackson & Obariyon in a trios match. This was the "magic move" match. If anyone in the match hit the magic move (which tonight was the Davey Boy Smith running powerslam) then everyone won a free Chikara trading card. Another entertaining match, with partners from the Throwbacks, the Batiri, and NRG on opposing sides (for no apparent reason). Eventually everyone on Dasher's team hit simultaneous powerslams on everyone on Touchdown's team to a monster pop. Shortly after, Jackson fell to Rockwell's spinning backbreaker, Dasher's jackhammer, and Kodama's top rope Blockbuster.

(4) Oleg the Usurper beat Silver Ant. Silver Ant was the tour replacement for that naughty scamp Eddie Kingston. A good clash of styles in this one, with Oleg getting a sizably positive reaction. Oleg got his knees up on a frog splash attempt and finished the Ant off with "Off with his Head." Silver Ant showed good sportsmanship and extended his hand to Oleg, who accepted the handshake. Oleg's face turn continues.

(5) The Wrecking Crew (Blaster McMassive & Flex Rumblecrunch & Jaka) beat the Gentleman's Club (Chuck Taylor & Drew Gulak & Swamp Monster w/Orange Cassidy) in a Challenge of the Immortals trios match. The Club members were hugely over with the crowd and this was my personal match of the night. Taylor was tremendous as expected and Swamp Monster got a lot of love from the crowd. Swampy imitated various wrestlers throughout, including channelling Ric Flair with a great figure-four leglock on McMassive. Eventually the Crew singled out Swampy and hit the Master Blaster for the win.

(6) Hallowicked beat Icarus to capture the CHIKARA Grand Championship. Really solid match between these Gen-One Chikara originals. Icarus hit a few high-risk moves throughout, including a great top-rope cross-body to the outside. However his risks caught up to as he attempted a flip dive from the stage, but Hallowicked avoided it. A groggy Icarus kicked out of the follow-up pin attempt and attempted the BluRay, but Hallowicked countered into the Chikara Special (which he had earlier avoided submitting to due to a ref bump). Icarus refused to submit, but faded out. The arm dropped three times and, to the shock of the crowd, Hallowicked became the new Grand Champion of Chikara!

Despite the rudo-heavy win percentage, this was a fantastic show. The atmosphere from the crowd was great and the action was mostly flawless. Nice touches such as a surprise appearance and speech from Mike Quackenbush (who hinted that Chikara may come back to the U.K.) to being thanked as we all left by various roster members made the day even more eventful and appreciated.

Oh and of course, we all got our trading cards. My one? Of all the people, I got naughty Eddie Kingston...
