[Q1]

-Opening montage highlights The Brogue Kick being banned by Booker T and the deposition at WWE Headquarters that followed. In my opinion, Sheamus’s attitude in the deposition seemed bullyish and heelish.

-Josh Mathews welcomes everyone to Smackdown, they quickly cut to the ring where Alberto Del Rio is mid ring with Ricardo Rodriguez and David Otunga. Del Rio gives Booker T props for banning the Brogue Kick. It should be noticed that Ricardo and Otunga are both wearing neck braces.

Ricardo issues a statement to his fans, thanking them for their support as he tends to his injuries. David Otunga then discusses the carelessness of Raw G.M. A.J. Lee and he calls her unbalanced and uncaring for putting him in a match with Sheamus. He says that he has severe bruising on his spine, but he expects to make a full recovery. Alberto Del Rio then throws to clips of Sheamus delivering the Brogue Kick to Christian last year at Night of Champions.

Alberto then welcomes Christian via satellite and David Otunga deposes him and blames his recent shoulder surgery on the Brogue Kick from over a year ago. Christian cuts Otunga off and calls Del Rio a sniveling piece of garbage and then says that what he is doing tonight is not for Alberto or himself, but for the well being of other superstars. Christian says that a year ago he was a two time champion, then he got Brogue Kicked and as a result of that kick, he lost a year of his career. Christian then tearfully says that the Brogue Kick should be banned. Otunga then cuts Christian off before he can say anymore.

Del Rio once again thanks Booker T for making a great decision and then vows that at Night of Champions, he will take the title away from Sheamus! Daniel Bryans music cuts off Del Rio and he makes his way to the ring, controlling his emotions all the way down the aisle. Bryan thanks the three men in the ring for bringing the case to light and he calls himself a victim as well. Bryan claims that the reason he is called a Goatface is because of all the times that Sheamus has kicked him in the face. He goes on to thank Booker T because Booker has given him a WrestleMania re-match tonight and he will undo the most embarrassing loss of his career. Bryan says he asked for the re-match because with the Brogue Kick being banned, Sheamus now has no chance of beating him!

Sheamus is now out to defend himself, he starts off by calling Bryan Goatface and tells him that he didn’t lose because of the Brogue Kick, he lost because of Sheamus! Sheamus then tells “Berty” that after be beats him on Sunday, he will learn that those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it! Sheamus enters the ring, rips off Otunga’s neckbrace, and then rolls out of the ring. Well, that was mean!

-Sin Cara is backstage, he faces The Miz next!

[Q2]

-Michael Cole does a quick voice-over letting the fans know that if they want to wish Lawler a speedy recovery, they can tweet him using the hashtag #GetWellJerry and promises that The King is reading all the tweets sent to him

1 - IC champion THE MIZ vs. SIN CARA – non-title match

Miz is in awe of the special Sin Cara lights. He starts off by faking a test of strength, then beats down Sin Cara in the middle of the ring. Snap suplex from The Miz gets a one count, he then proceeds to continue stomping away on Sin Cara. Sin Cara surprises Miz with a head scissors takedown, Miz rolls out of the ring, Sin Cara tries a pescado, but but Miz catches him with a left hand to knock Sin Cara down.

(Commercial)

Back on Smackdown, Sin Cara kicks out of a pinfall at two. In the corner, Miz connects with his patented running clothesline. He then goes to the top rope and hits Sin Cara with an axe handle smash. Backbreaker into a neckbreaker from The Miz gets another two count on Sin Cara. Miz plays to the crowd, giving Sin Cara a moment to recover, then Miz misses his running clothesline.

Both men reset. Sin Cara misses a handspring elbow, then ducks a kick from The Miz, and then hits a hurricanrana on The Miz. The Miz catches Sin Cara’s boot and tries the Skull Crushing Finale, but Sin Cara fights out of the hold and rolls up Miz with a La Magistral cradle and gets the victory!

WINNER: Sin Cara by pinfall in 9:00.

[Q3]

-Still to come tonight, Randy Orton vs. Tensai.

(Commercial)

-Backstage, The Miz is stopped by Matt Striker and he wants a comment from Miz about his unknown opponent this Sunday. Cody Rhodes walks by and The Miz asks Striker to ask him about his partner sneak-attacking him on Raw last week. Cody says that the IC Title is what everyone associates him with. Rey then walks by and wants a title shot, then Sin Cara meanders into the shot and points at the IC Title. The four men argue…well three men argue and Sin Cara makes gestures until Teddy Long comes by and makes a four-way match for the Intercontinental Title at Night of Champions.

-Josh Mathews throws to footage of how the Prime Time Players lost their Tag Title shot last Monday on Raw. Clips of Anger Management classes are spliced into the package.

-Backstage, Kane is squeezing a stress ball and Bryan tells him that he is doing it wrong. Kane and Bryan then argue about being the next tag team champion. Their Anger Management therapist then talks about the stress balls and squeezing them, he stresses the word balls everytime he says it. They squeeze the stress balls, then Kane tells Bryan that his is bigger and walks out. Sigh.

-Kane takes on Kofi Kingston, next!

(Commercial)

[Q4]

2 - WWE tag champion KOFI KINGSTON vs. KANE

Kofi sticks and moves on Kane to start. Kane then gets his hands on Kofi and throws him into the corner where he unloads right hands on him. Sit-down dropkick from Kane gets a two count on Kofi, he picks up Kofi and whips him into the corner and follows up with a running clothesline, then again into the far corner. DDT by Kofi out of nowhere turns the tide. Kofi calls for Trouble in Paradise, but Kane catches him and tries a chokeslam, but Kofi counters and kicks Kane in the face. Springboard by Kofi gets countered, then Kane catches him and chokeslams Kofi and pins him.

WINNER: Kane by pinfall in 2:00.

-Dr. Shelby stands on the ramp to evaluate. He shakes his head, so Kane heads back into the ring and threatens to chokeslam Kingston again, but then pulls him in for a big hug instead. Kofi is in shock as Dr. Shelby applauds Kane.

-Backstage, Striker is with Orton and asks Orton why he requested a match with Tensai tonight if he has a big match against Dolph Ziggler on Sunday. Orton says that he had nothing to do, Tensai had nothing to do, so why not. Striker then asks Orton about his match on Sunday and Orton lays out a scenario where Dolph cashes in Money in the Bank on Sunday, wins the title, then his match with Orton becomes a title match and Randy walks out with the title. Orton then says he dislikes that punk and that is why he wants to face him on Sunday.

(Commercial)

-"Champions" is the official theme song of Night of Champions. It is by Kevin Rudolf, Fred Durst, Birdman, and Little Wayne.

[Q5]

3 - RANDY ORTON vs. TENSAI

Tensai powers Orton into the corner to start, he elbows Orton in the head and the ref calls for a break. Orton charges out of the corner and gives Tensai some lefts and rights of his own, Tensai then swats away a dropkick attempt and misses a elbow drop. Orton drops a few knees on the forehead of Tensai, then Tensai pops up and knocks Orton down with a chop to the throat. Tensai backs Orton into the corner and nails him with elbow after elbow to the head. Orton then fights out, but gets backed into a different corner. Headbutts from Tensai on Orton in the corner, and Orton slumps to the mat. Orton ducks a haymaker and then cltoheslines Tensai in the corner, but then gets bulldozed over by Tensai! Orton rolls out of the ring, Tensai heads out, and he rolls Orton back in. But, Orton doesn’t let Tensai back in, he catches him on the apron with a few European uppercuts and then sends him back to the floor with a dropkick.

(Commercial)

Tensai runs Orton over as Smackdown returns. Vader bomb in the corner from Tensai gets a two count. Well-placed right hands from Tensai keep Orton from reaching his feet, Tensai then puts Orton in a nerve hold and Randy has trouble fighting out of the hold. Orton finally fight out of the move and turns the tide with a powerslam on Tensai. Tensai rolls to the apron and Orton nails him with his rope-assisted DDT! Garvin Stomp from Randy Orton, then Sakamoto causes a distraction and Orton knocks him out. Orton then calls for the RKO, but Tensai blocks it, and hits Orton with a chokeslam powerbomb. Tensai goes for a senton splash, but Orton rolls out of the way and puts Tensai away with a RKO!

WINNER: Randy Orton by pin in 10:00.

Mike’s Reax: I enjoyed this match. I think that Tensai is under-utilized and he could be used as a monster heel in the absence of Mark Henry. While I think his gimmick is lame, I think his work in the ring has been solid and he deserves a run with someone like Orton, Sheamus, Rey, or Cena.

-Vickie Guerrero is out and she has words with Orton about what he said about Ziggler earlier tonight. She predicts a Ziggler victory on Sunday and then tells Orton that he will never be World Champion ever again. Orton then tells Vicke that she is out without Dolph and he is talking to her with his back turned, that can only mean one thing – he then coils on the mat, and stops Dolph from jumping him from behind. Dolph runs to the ramp to Vickie.

(Commercial)

[Q6]

-The YouTube pre-show match will be a Battle Royal with the winner facing Antonio Cesaro later in the night for the U.S. Title. In the middle of the ring, Cesaro says he is outraged about not facing a true number one contender; instead, he faces someone who wins one battle royal.

Tyson Kidd is out and he wants to tell Cesaro in Canadian how he will lose his title on Sunday. Kidd uses “eh” over and over in the promo and then gets knocked out by Cesaro.

Brodus Clay is out next, and he wants a piece of Cesaro now. Kidd cheap shots Cesaro and Clay gives him a big splash. Clay and Kidd dance in the middle of the ring to celebrate their double team of Antonio Cesaro!

-Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan is still to come tonight!
(Commercial)

-Did you know: Chicks dig Smackdown.

-Wade Barrett is out to reiterate what he said last week about the Barrage being opened back up. Next week he will show one lucky person what he means.

4 - KAITLYN vs. BETH PHOENIX

Headlock from Beth to start. Kaitlyn tries slipping out, but Beth powers her back into the headlock. Kaitlyn finally fights out, then kicks Beth in the stomach and then tries a sunset flip, but only gets a two count.

[Q7] Beth over-powers Kaitlyn and tries a torture rack, Kaitlyn reverses and knocks Beth down with a shoulder block. Beth no-sells and puts Kaitlyn back in a headlock. The crowd gets behind Kaitlyn, but Beth won’t let her make a comeback. Glamslam attempt by Beth gets countered into a reverse DDT and Kaitlyn pins Beth Phoenix in the middle of the ring!

WINNER: Kaitlyn by pinfall in 2:30.

(Commercial)

-Michael Cole gives a update on Jerry Lawler, saying that he is up and talking. He says that Jerry hopes to be home soon.

-Raw Rebound. John Cena cut a pipe bomb promo on C.M. Punk last Monday on Raw as Bret Hart looked on.

-Michael Cole and Josh Mathews run down the card for Night of Champions.

-Backstage, Eve tells Booker T that she supports him and his decision to ban the Brogue Kick. Teddy Long joins them and tells Booker that as a former G.M. he knows that sometimes you have to make some tough calls, but this was the right call. Eve no sells Teddy and tells Booker that they have some papers to look over before Sunday and she walks off with Booker.

-Sheamus makes his way to the ring; he faces Daniel Bryan next!

(Commercial)

[Q8]

-A replay of the World Title match from WrestleMania is shown in its entirety.

5 - World Heavyweight champion SHEAMUS vs. DANIEL BRYAN – non-title match

Sheamus works Bryan's arm to start. He then runs Bryan over with a shoulderblock. Bryan takes a second to get back to his feet, and he struggles to keep his composure as the crowd chants "Goatface" and "Yes!" at him. Jack Bauer cool under pressure he is not! Sheamus clotheslines Bryan to the floor. Bryan pulls him to the floor, then pulls him down by the leg and connects with a running dropkick on the floor. Back in the ring, Bryan connects with another running dropkick in the corner and it gets a one count on the champion! Bryan with an armbreaker on Sheamus. He follows it up with No! Kicks. Bryan goes back to the arm and works it over, setting Sheamus up for the No! Lock down the line. Sheamus fights out of a chickenwing, but runs into a knee to the midsection. Bryan misses a dropkick in the corner, then Sheamus goes to the top rope and goes through Daniel Bryan with a top-rope battering ram!

Both men struggle to their feet. Sheamus knocks Bryan down with some Irish Hammers and then he puts Bryan down with the Irish Curse backbreaker for a two count. On the apron, Sheamus ties Bryan up on the top rope and clubs him in the chest ten times. Sheamus misses a big clotheslines, then Bryan sneaks behind him and tries rolling him up, but Sheamus kicks out at two. Kick to the side of the head almost puts Sheamus away. The crowd yells “Yes!” at Bryan and he shakes his head “No!” and then proceeds to kick Sheamus over and over in the chest. Sheamus catches Bryans leg and backs him into the corner. Bryan puts Sheamus in a front facelock out of nowhere, Sheamus struggles to break the hold. Bryan rolls Sheamus up and almost puts him away, he tries the No Lock, but Sheamus powers out. Sheamus slaps on the Texas Cloverleaf, Bryan crawls and almost gets to the ropes, but Sheamus pulls him to the middle of the ring and Bryan yells “Yes!” and taps out.

WINNER: Sheamus by submission in 11:00.

Mike’s Overall Reax: The first hour was slow with only a few minutes of wrestling, but the second hour was a lot better and made up for the lack of action in hour one. Tensai and Orton put on a good TV match, Sheamus and Bryan had their usual good match, and I thought there was excellent build for the other title matches this Sunday on Night of Champions.
