- Tonight, Kane will answer the Undertaker’s challenge.

- Plus, Christian takes on C.M. Punk in singles action.

- In the ring, Christian was set to host The Peep Show. He wanted to get right to it, but he was interrupted by Alberto Del Rio’s personal ring announcer, who was already at ringside. He did the honors of introducing Del Rio, who drove into the arena as usual. Matt Striker called Del Rio “one of the wealthiest men in Mexico.” Christian welcomed Del Rio to the Peep Show and noted that Del Rio has made quite an impression in his short time in WWE. He called Del Rio’s introduction videos brutal and boring. Del Rio said the only thing people need to know about him is what he did to Rey Mysterio. He said that tells people everything they need to know about him. Christian said he has been in WWE for the Next Big Thing, he’s seen Male Cheerleaders and even a guy who ate worms and truly thought he was the Boogeyman. Christian asked Del Rio whether he truly was the most interesting man in the world. Del Rio called himself, “the man who will change WWE forever.” He said Christian would end up washing his dishes.

Christian said he has pride too and he needs to know if Del Rio really is the man, and he wants to fight him at Night of Champions. Del Rio politely declined, and said if he faces Christian at the PPV, he’ll end up like a peasant, like all the fans. He said he kinda likes Christian, and said it was time for him to go. Del Rio said he’d think about the match, then tapped Christian on the chin. Christian slapped Del Rio across the face. This angered the newcomer, who threw his jacket on the ground, then left the ring. Del Rio got to the top of the ramp and turned back toward Christian and teased accepting the match, but said his answer was still “no.”

- Up next, The Hart Dynasty faces Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre.

[Commercial Break]

1 – THE HART DYNASTY vs. CODY RHODES & DREW MCINTYRE

Long collar-and-elbow tie-up from Mcintyre and David Hart Smith. A bit of chain wrestling from the two ended with Smith powerslamming McIntyre for two. Rhodes tagged in and was double-teamed. Rhodes went to ringside, and Natalya slapped him while the ref was distracted by Kidd. They went to break about three minutes in.

[Commercial Break]

Back from break, Rhodes pounded away on Kidd on the outside. Knee-drop sans the kneepad for a two-count. McIntyre tagged in and continued the assault. Kidd tried to make a comeback, to little reception. Springboard enziguiri by Rhodes. Kidd countered McIntyre with a swinging neck-breaker. Both men made tags, and Rhodes got to Smith before he could even get into the ring. Rhodes even connected on a punch to the face when Smith put his head down, a la Goldust. Smith shook that off and set up for the Hart Attack. McIntyre tripped up Kidd though and as Smith went for a powerslam, Rhodes turned it into Cross Rhodes for the win.

WINNERS: Rhodes and McIntyre, at 11:17. Okay match, but nothing you’d remember next week.

- Tonight, Kane will answer Undertaker’s challenge about a No Holds Barred Match for Night of Champions.

[Commercial Break]

- Striker plugged WWE.com’s Facebook page.

- Ring announcer Tony Chimel introduced Kofi Kingston. Kingston said Dolph Ziggler is only Intercontinental Champion because of Vickie Guerrero. He said Ziggler has been hiding behind Vickie, making him a coward. Kofi said things will be different this Sunday, since if Dolph gets DQ’d or counted out for any reason, he’ll lose the I.C. Title. Kingston promised to win the title this Sunday, but also rid WWE of Ziggler and Guerrero as a couple. He even guaranteed there would be Trouble in Paradise. As Kofi finished things up, Jack Swagger’s music interrupted. Apparently, he’s got a match against Kofi next.

[Commercial Break]

- Kane answers Undertaker tonight.

2 – KOFI KINGSTON vs. JACK SWAGGER

Single-leg take-down by Swagger. All of his matches seem to start with him doing amateur wrestling. Kofi went for a kick to the ribs, but whiffed on a few more attempts. Go-behind from Swagger led to a few forearms to the back of Kofi’s head. Kofi ran the ropes and flew at Swagger with a flying forearm. Swagger went to ringside to take a short break from things. He came back in and worked the arm and shoulders of Kingston. He catapulted Kofi over the top rope, but Kofi held on. Springboard, but Kingston landed right in Swagger’s arms, and Swagger slammed him down. Break time, shy of five minutes in.

[Commercial Break]

Swagger continued focusing on the mid-section of Kofi during the break and once the show returned as well. Belly-to-belly suplex by the All-American American. Vader Bomb found the mark for two. Swagger did some choking of Kofi in the ropes. Kingston tried the flip kick in the corner to energize his comeback, but Swagger caught his legs and continued the onslaught. Kofi flailed on the ground, throwing punches that weren’t close to connecting. Dueling “Let’s go Swagger” and “Let’s go Kofi” chants. Swagger again grounded Kofi with an abdominal stretch. Kingston made a full comeback, including a high cross-body off the top rope. Chops and a dropkick from Kofi. Swagger avoided Trouble in Paradise, ducking down to do so. Ankle-lock, but Kofi got the ropes. Swagger tried to kick the steps into Kingston like he did to MVP last week, but Kingston avoided the move. Kofi then attacked Swagger, still on the outside. Some of them showed quite a bit of light. Back in the ring, Kofi jumped on Swagger’s shoulders to give him some more punches, but Swagger walked out of the corner and tried the ankle-lock. No dice, but he was able to give Kofi a big boot. Vader Bomb was met with two boots, then Kofi connected on Trouble in Paradise for the victory.

WINNER: Kingston, at 16:17. Solid match, one that could be a money drawing match down the line at some point.

- They showed the outside of Comerica Park in Detroit.

- Todd Grisham and Striker discussed Hornswoggle and his inability to talk. They showed Teddy Long trying to get him to talk two weeks ago, using shock therapy. Tonight, Hornswoggle is going back to school. He was shown in what looked like an elementary room, with a nun and Long. Sister Mary Francis Aloyisuis. The nun told Teddy to sit down after Long advised her that he just called him “Horny.” The sister went over the alphabet as Hornswoggle distracted Long and switched papers with him, so Hornswoggle got his work done and Long didn’t. In fact, Hornswoggle drew the devil on his paper that he switched with Long. Again, the nun was not impressed. A paper airplane hit sister, and apparently she thought it was Teddy. She was about to strike his hand with a ruler, but Hornswoggle admitted it was him. Long took the ruler before she could use it and Horny bit her, then clapped the eraser in her face. This is just awful. The nun said Horny needed and exorcism.

- Kane answers the Undertaker tonight.

[Commercial Break]

3 – ROSA MENDES & KELLY KELLY vs. LAYCOOL

Kelly’s pro Naomi was out with her, and Kaval accompanied LayCool. LayCool harassed Naomi at ringside, so the babyfaces went on the attack. McCool made fun of Kelly’s odor, then Kelly shoved Michelle into Layla, who was on the apron. “She’s killing me,” said McCool as she tagged Layla. Double clothesline by Kelly, then a tag by Rosa. Hair toss, but McCool distracted Rosa, allowing Layla to take over. Rear chinlock by Layla. Rosa tried unsuccessfully to elbow out. Layla attacked Kelly on the apron to ensure there would be no tag. Lay-Out neckbreaker by Layla after interference by McCool, and that sealed it.

WINNERS: LayCool, at 2:03. Pretty ugly at times.

- Christian vs. CM Punk is still to come.

- Kane’s answer to the Undertaker is yet to come.

[Commercial Break]

- A video package aired on the WWE Championship Six-Pack Challenge match at the PPV, including a short profile on each competitor.

- The announcers discussed the rest of the Night of Champions card.

- LayCool addressed the camera, talking to Melina, or, Lady Wah-Wah. They said they are probably wondering which one of them will face her. McCool took out her tiny hat and said they put their names in it and whoever’s name is drawn will face Melina. They let Kaval draw and he picked Michelle. She was happy and Layla had a clear look of disappointment on her face. McCool hugged Layla then ran off. Kaval looked through the papers and told Layla that they all had Michelle’s name on them. Layla intimated that McCool would be on her own for the match on Sunday.

- CM Punk came out for his match against Christian. It’s on the other side of this break.

[Commercial Break]

- Alberto Del Rio joined the commentators during the break.

4 –CM PUNK vs. CHRISTIAN

Couple quick knock-downs by Christian for a couple of one-count. Test of strength, but Punk kicked Christian in the gut. Hard slap by Christian, who then stepped on Punk’s back, choking him in the middle rope. He ran right at Punk, who put him down with a knee-lift. Del Rio was enjoying the beating Christian was taking. It’s worth mentioning that Punk did not have Luke Gallows and Joey Mercury with him at ringside. Body-scissors by Punk. Big kick to the back by Punk. Shot to the kidneys followed that up. Springboard dropkick by Punk sent Christian off the apron and to the floor. They went to break at this point.

[Commercial Break]

Christian found himself back in the body-scissors back from break. He broke out, but Punk then went into an abdominal stretch. Back-breaker from Punk. He went for another one, but Christian countered. Del Rio proclaimed himself the next Heavyweight Champion. Both men were down ‘til the count of nine. Flying European Uppercut by the Canadian. Springboard sunset flip for two. The two traded roll-ups, but Punk powered Christian into the corner. Running knee to the face, but Christian blocked a bulldog and got a near-fall. Del Rio left the commentary table and got a mic. He talked about reconsidering, getting Christian’s attention long enough for Punk to get Captain Charisma up for the GTS, and down for the win.

WINNER: Punk, at 12:06.

Del Rio brought a chair into the ring, set it up over Christian’s prone body, and said his answer was still no. Then Big Show came out and chased off Punk. Del Rio, with the chair, distracted him long enough for Punk to come back. But in the end, he got punched in the face and fell to the mat.

- Next, Kane will come out and answer the Undertaker’s challenge.

[Commercial Break]

- Kane made his entrance into the arena. He was bathed in his red light in the ring as he cut his promo. He did a hard-sell for his match at Night of Champions and said that Undertaker would not vanquish him on Sunday and that he would leave Taker sprawled at his feet. He said this time, the dark side will betray Taker because the powers that were once his now belong to Kane. Crowd chanted for Undertaker, but Kane continued without missing a beat. He claimed that he’d leave Night of Champions still as champion, and that the plot he hatched 13 years ago will come to fruition. He screamed that it would be on his terms this time. He said Taker played into his hands by wanting a No Holds Barred match, because that’s what he wanted. He said the Devil’s favorite demon would make sure Taker rests in….then Taker’s gong went off.

His music played, then the Dead Man himself walked out, looking ready to compete. He moseyed to the ring for a confrontation. The lights went out and when they turned around, Kane was behind Taker in the aisle, and he nailed Taker in the gut with the World Title. Kane continued the assault at ringside, slamming Taker’s head into the steel steps. Taker’s skull bounced off the steel post next, but then he started throwing rights of his own. Kane grabbed him and backed him into the barricade. He then whipped Taker into the barricade near the announce table. The announce table was the next object to be used, as the two men previewed their No Holds Barred match. Kane threw Taker into the ring. Taker struggled to get to his feet, and once he did, Kane splashed him in the corner, then gave him Snake Eyes and the big boot. Kane set up for the chokeslam, and it connected. He did the throat-slash gesture (15 yard penalty) and seemed to indicate the Tombstone was next. Crowd tried to get behind their favorite demon. It didn’t help, as Kane finished off Taker with the piledriver. He then did Taker’s pose, kneeling, as his fire shot out from the ringposts.
