[Q1] No pre-credits intro, and The Vaudevillans announce themselves for a match. I really dislike entrances like this or Goldust's that involve special effects from the production truck to look right.
Rich Brennan, Renee Young, and Alex Riley have the call.
1 - THE VAUDEVILLAINS (AIDEN ENGLISH & SIMON GOTCH) vs. T. PERKINS & MATT SUGARMAN
English and Sugarman start, and Perkins comes in, but English gets the better of him. Gotch is in and does some push-ups while locking Perkin's head between his legs. Rolling Senton from Gotch and a second rope senton from English ("That's a Wrap") end the match.
WINNERS: The Vaudevillains in 2:36. Basic enhancement match.
Backstage interview from last week with Sami Zayn. He is furious at Tyson Kidd for walking out on him, especially after he has shown Kidd respect and admiration in the past.
Xavier Woods is out for a match. C. J. Parker walks out with a sign, and jaws with Woods a bit. Bull Dempsey is out for his debut. He looks like a slimmed down Brodus Clay in his build. Riley gives Dempsey the hard sell.
2 - XAVIER WOODS vs. BULL DEMPSEY
Dempsey overpowers Woods early on, then wrangles Woods into a tight headlock. Dempsey hits the ropes and locks a headlock on the run. Dempsey drops a series of elbow drops in Woods. Woods with a kick from the apron to stun Dempsey, but Dempsey knocks him out of the air on the follow up attack. He hits a powerslam (the "Bulldozer") for the win.
WINNER: Bull Dempsey in 4:50. Dempsey seems competent, while Woods is now losing to debuting NXT wrestlers.
[Q2] Post-match, Bull says that NXT has been dominated by children, but he is a man to bring order to NXT. Some members of the audience seem to agree with this.
Summer Rae comes out with the BFFs. Charlotte does not seem happy. She is facing Becky Lynch, who comes out doing a bit of a jig. The announcers compare her to Paige in wrestling style.
3 - SUMMER RAE (w/Charlotte and Sasha Banks) vs. BECKY LYNCH
Lynch annoys Rae with dancing. Rae dances too. So Lynch dances back at her, drawing an attack from Rae. Pair of arm drags from Lynch, and the crowd seems to love her. Roundhouse from Rae clobbers Lynch. Rae and Charlotte start arguing, letting Lynch sneak in a cover for a nearfall. Lynch with offense, leg drops, then dancing before a leg drop. Rae is looking for helo from the outside, but Charlotte and Banks won't help. Rae tries a suplex, it gets caught, and Lynch hits a suplex for the win.
WINNER: Becky Lynch in 3:13. Lynch seems like potential fun, but do we REALLY need another dancing citizen from the British Commonwealth or more Irish stereotypes? I am not sure I see the comparisons to Paige, other than they are both from islands in the North Atlantic area.
4 - COLIN CASSADY vs. SAWYER FULTON
Fulton starts strong, but Cassady hits a big boot and the S-A-W-F-T jumping elbow drop for the win.
WINNER: Colin Cassady in 1:20. Quick win to get Cassady over.
Sylvester Lefort and Marcus Lois come out to menace Cassady, but then Enzo Amore makes his return and acts like he's been having whatever Mojo Rawley's been having. Lefort and Lois want none of Amore and pound sand.
[Q3] Amore gets a mic and reminds us that he is a bonafide G and a certified stud and you can't teach that. The crowd talks along with him. His hair is insane. He recites Cassady's stats: you can't teach that. Bada bing, bada boom, the two realest guys in the room. "The French fugazis" are S-A-W-F-T. The energy in the room just went through the roof.
Tyler Breeze joins the announcing booth, and immediately starts a great argument with Renee Young. It's the battle of the wits. Tough booking here, with Neville facing crowd favorite Rob Van Dam. Breeze dumps all over Van Dam, while Young asks how he can do that to a walking legend. This is Breeze's chance to really shine, so let's see how he does.
4 - NXT champion ADRIAN NEVILLE vs. ROB VAN DAM - non-title match
Early feeling out process as they trade control on the mat. Neville clears Van Dam from the ring. Breeze is watching himself on his phone from the booth, typical of him. Can Dam waits till seven to return to the ring. Van Dam pushes Neville, then they go face-to-face. Van Dam pokes Neville in the stomach and looks away. Van Dam suckers Neville on a lockup with a takedown. They trade whiffs. Van Dam with the first cover of the match for two. Thrust kick from Van Dam who looks cocky. Neville catches Van Dam coming off the apron. Moonsault from the apron puts Van Dam on the mats ringside.
[ Break ]
Neville has Van Dam grounded out of the break, proving he can wrestle a main roster match. Atomic drop from Van Dam, then he plants Neville on the top rope. Kick from the top knocks Neville off the ropes. Rolling Thunder gets two. Breeze just completely tears apart Young's looks.
[Q4] Neville fires up to bring some much-needed excitement to this match. Missile dropkick gets two for Van Dam. Van Dam ducks a springboard move, but Neville follows up and gets a two count with a standing moonsault. Neville anticipates a split-legged moonsault and a small package gets two. Van Dam to the top, but Neville rolls under the Five Star Frog Splash. Neville gets caught by Van Dam in mid-air, but transitions to a tornado DDT, then hits Red Arrow for the win.
WINNER: Adrian Neville in 14:03. This could have been a dream match, but Van Dam just does not match the pacing of Neville. He is slower than everyone on the NXT roster, which is something that Greg Parks and I discussed on Moonlighting a few weeks ago. The NXT roster simply moves fast and motivated which adds realism to the matches.
Overall Reax: Filler show to continue to build the Vaudevillains and further the BFF breakup story, introduce some new characters, and shore up both the tag team and women's divisions. The return of Enzo Amore is huge, and it was clear that he was not forgotten and is immediately getting a top-tier crowd reaction. The Neville vs. Van Dam match was regrettably forgettable.
