[Q1] Pre-credits video package on NXT Takeover, with focus on Tyler Breeze's controversial win over Sami Zayn, Charlotte vs. Natalya, and Adrian Neville's successful title defense.
William Regal, Tom Philips, and Byron Saxton are the announcers.
Eden Stiles announces that Tyler Breeze has entered the building. Mojo Rawley hits the ramp to get the crowd hyped. He's wearing neon green, to further my theory that he is the next John Cena. Inset promo hyping that he isn't faxed by the beating he took from Alexander Rusev at Takeover. Aiden English has a song specifically targeting Rawley and Takeover.
1 - MOJO RAWLEY vs. AIDEN ENGLISH
English immediately heads for the corner and Rawley catches a surprises kick. A pair of Stinger Splashes but English fires back. Rawley gets a boot up in the corner then pushes out of ten punches in the corner to come to life. Rear View, Hyperdrive, and Rawley has it.
WINNER: Mojo Rawley in 2:57. Rawley continues to get the John Cena booking, from shrugging off a bating with "aw shucks" in the promo to getting beat up throughout the match and hitting three moves for the win.
Flashback to last week, with Paul Heyman egging on Tyson Kidd about his loss, and Kidd walking out of the interview.
Backstage, Devin Taylor interviews Natalya. She supports Kidd no matter what.
Video package on Eva Marie and Xavier Woods training Special Olympic athletes at the Performance Center.
Cut to Special Olympians in the NXT crowd. And Bayley's music hits. She now has those inflatable tube people things they stick in front of stores surrounding the ramp in her entrance. That's fitting. Bayley gives headbands to folks in the audience.
Sasha Banks is out with Charlotte, with no sign of any tension. Charlotte gets a decent pop, a sign of the muddled emotions around Takeover.
2 - NXT Women's champion CHARLOTTE (w/Sasha Banks) vs. BAYLEY - non-title match
Charlotte immediately moves to a mat game. Tons of fast-paced reversals and back-and-forth.
[Q2] Charlotte with a bit of power to knock Bayley down and over for two. Figure Four headlock, and there's a 70/30 dueling chant favoring Bayley. Bayley fires up. Bayley goes outside to deal with Banks, letting Charlotte get an opportunity, but she blows it. Back elbow from the second rope gets two for Bayley.
Summer Rae with new music comes out, blowing kisses to the crowd. She kisses and hugs Banks. Charlotte was distracted, but still shrugs off Bayley and hits Bow Down to the Queen for the win.
WINNER: Charlotte in 4:30. Fast moving match with a lot of different elements. I would definitely sign up to see a 10-minute version of this with no outside nonsense.
Post-match, Summer Rae comes into the ring to congratulate Charlotte, who sells disdain. Summer Rae puts boots to Bayley, then the others join in. Paige and Emma make the save to a big pop.
[ J.J.'s Reax: Since when does Paige make the save for anyone? ]
Backstage, Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger do a song with their names in it. Except, it's a song from 1993 or thereabouts.
Justin Gabriel is announced as being in a No DQ title match tonight against Adrian Neville for some strange reason.
Video package on The Ascension standing tall at Takeover.
Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger get an actual entrance. They are facing jobbers, and have matching trunks showing that they are a team.
3 - JASON JORDAN & TYE DILLINGER vs. Stewart Cumberland and Philip Guljar - Tag Team match
Jordan starts off against Cumberland. They trade wrist control until Jordan takes Cumberland to the mat. Dillinger in, he lays a mean chop to the crowd's delight. Guljar manages to tag in, but he gets the worst of Dillinger's offense. Jordan isn't even breathing hard as he demolishes Guljar. Guljar manages to put Dillinger in the corner, but Dillinger fights out. Dillinger back in the corner. Guljar telegraphs a body drop letting Dillinger get in a kick and tag in Jordan. The "Jordan Slam" finishes it.
WINNERS: Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger in 5:52. Very nice showing for Jordan and Dillinger. I liked their ringwork, it never got boring let's see if they can form a personality for themselves and gel as a team. The NXT Tag Team division is starting to get back on track.
As Jordan and Dillinger celebrate, C.J. Parker shows up ringside holding signs touting his environmental sensitivity.
[Q3] Backstage, Charlotte tells Summer Rae that she wasn't terribly thrilled to see her back. She says they don't need the Summer Rae on a stick anymore, because she's back. Charlotte does not seem so happy about that.
Up Next: World Premier of a music video starring Tyler Breeze.
Tyler Breeze with his new music coming to the stage.
He cuts an in-ring promo. He promises us our "daily dose" of the King of Cuteville, the Definition of Delish, and the #1 Contender. He reminds us that he beat "Seth Rogan's less good looking younger brother" at takeover, prompting Ole chants. He says that he gets to choose when the match occurs. He claims his music video won the MTV Euro Music awards.
The video starts with "Dedicated to all my fans... even the uggos. Love, Tyler." The song is called "#MMMGorgeous" and it is his theme music. Which he does indeed sing. There are credits at the end, and of course, Breeze gets all of them.
[ J.J.'s Reax: I gotta say, someone is doubling down on Tyler Breeze, and after Takeover, that attention definitely has been both justified and paying off. ]
The crowd is either chanting "that was awesome" or "that was awful" and then it gets drowned out by "No! No!" chants.
Video package set to Frank Stallone-style music on Bo Dallas getting the boot from NXT.
4 - ADRIAN NEVILLE vs. JUSTIN GABRIEL - NXT Championship match
Slow start at first, with both men showing a bit of caution.
[Q4] The pace picks up. Gabriel goes ringside, and Gabriel sneaks in to clothesline Neville as hit hits the ropes to go for a div. Neville low-bridges Gabriel then flips off the apron to take him out. Cover doesn't even get one.
[ Break ]
Gabriel in control. Neville with a comeback, missile dropkick gets two. Neville charges Gabriel, but Gabriel counters with a suplex into a bridge for two. Gabriel has an injured eye. Springboard moonsault, Neville moves so Gabriel lands on his feet, Neville responds with a springboard crossbody but Gabriel intercepts with a dropkick for a two count. Neville ducks the 450 splash and Gabriel mostly lands on his feet. Neville roughs Gabriel in the corner, then heads to the top. Red Arrow puts it away.
WINNER: Adrian Neville in 8:10. This was billed as a No DQ match earlier in the night, but that did not seem to be what we got. There were some good sequences here.
Post-match, Tyson Kidd comes out. He says he deserves to get a bad reaction from the crowd after the way he acted at Takeover. He says he feels foolish and is embarrassed and sorry for his behavior. "You beat me. Fact. The next time we get in this ring together, I'll beat you. Fact." He asks another shot at the title and holds out his hand. Neville accepts, and Kidd thanks him.
[ J.J.'s Reax: Either they are going back on Kidd's heel turn, or this is just a ruse by Kidd. I am sure that Tyler Breeze will have something to say about this. ]
Overall Reax: Solid show with some solid ring work to set up the next few weeks. The BFFs situation has lots of potential and I'd bet that another match at the taping will be a Teddy Long Special with Bayley, Emma, and Paige facing the BFFs. Where is Corey Graves? The booking of Tyler Breeze is great, they have given him the ball and it looks like he is making the 99-yard touchdown run from comedy act to main event staple on NXT.
