Pre-credits, a video package rolls summarizing Bo Dallas's challenge to any WWE superstar, and Big Show's response to it. The closing shot of the video is Show knocking out William Regal. Foreshadowing?
[Q1] Tony Dawson and William Regal are in the booth, as Primo and Epico hit the ring.
1 - THE USOS vs. PRIMO & EPICO (w/Rosa Mendes) - Tag Team match
I have got to assume that this match will end up with The Ascencion being involved somehow. Notably, both of the Usos are putting on weight at a very rapid pace.
Jimmy controls Primo early on as Regal and Dawson ignore the match to discuss Kassius Ohno and Leo Kruger. The Usos work Epico over. Epico rolls out of the ring to avoid a Superfly Splash, but The Usos pursue to the outside.
[Commercial Break]
Primo opens the ropes to send Jey to the outside, and Jey plays up a leg injury. Primo and Epico use rapid tags to beat Jey down in their corner. Epico with a trio of back suplexes for a nearfall. Jey dodges a corner jumpkick and Primo manages to land himself in a tree of woe, needing Epico to free him. The ref misses a tag to Jimmy to the crowd's displeasure. Back body drop for a double tag. Jimmy runs Primo over. Typical Uso hot tag routine. Samoan Drop, but Epico breaks it up. Jey clears Epico with a superkick, Primo takes one too, and the Samoan Splash seals it.
WINNERS: The Usos in 11:00. Good match, but way too long for a show that should be focused on the NXT rookies.
[Q2] Post-match, The Ascension appears on the 'Tron as soon as the Usos get the win. They promise that the war has not ended yet, and they will destroy The Usos.
Advertised for the remainder of the show: an interview with Seth Rollins by Jim Ross, and Bo Dallas against Big Show.
Camacho comes out with Aiden English for their handicap match against Big E. Langston. Langston comes out to a five chant. He has this look where he always seems a bit lost or confused, like he can't believe he's really on TV. Regal compares Langston to Roman Reigns, in that they have the "it factor."
2 - BIG E. LANGSTON vs. CAMACHO & AIDEN ENGLISH - Handicap match
Langston wrecks English with kneelifts and a clothesline. Regal says that there needs to be three or four opponents in there to match Langston. Langston scares Camacho off the apron and lands his finisher on English for the win as Camacho shakes his head in shame at himself.
WINNER: Big E. Langston in 1:00. Fun, fast squash.
Post-match, Langston repeats his finisher and gives another five count to English as Camacho glares from the ramp. The crowd demands a third time, and Langston gives it to them. Langston goes nuts with the fans shouting "five." I think there's a policy at Full Sail which forbids fans to wear any wrestling-related shirts other than C.M. Punk, Daniel Bryan, or Barber Shop Window shirts.
Percy Watson returns from purgatory for a match. I think he has a new tattoo. He's facing Kassius Ohno, in a potentially good match.
3 - PERCY WATSON vs. KASSIUS OHNO
Watson's superior athleticism gives him an early advantage. Watson shows off some new moves since the last time I saw him. Ohno punches out of a delayed vertical suplex and picks Watson apart with knees and punches.
[Q3] Ohno with a cravat over the ropes. Watson gets his footing and makes a comeback. Showtime Splash for two. Ohno fights out of a fireman's carry, then lands a big elbow to Watson for the win.
WINNER: Kassius Ohno in 5:30. Decent match, but it felt like Watson was trying out a few too many new moves for his own comfort. Ohno is continuing to tweak his pacing for WWE style matches, and the improvement is marked.
Post-match, Ohno makes dirty eyes at Regal.
In the ring, Jim Ross welcomes Seth Rollins for an interview. Rollins comes out in street clothes. Ross congratulates him on retaining the title last week and asks him if it's different to be hunted versus the hunter. Rollins recalls his last post-retention interview and says he likes being the one on top. He says that he's ready for the next challenger. Corey Graves ambushes him, and locks in the 13th Step as Jim Ross waves to the back for assistance. It takes four refs to save Rollins.
Graves keeps Ross in the ring and demands that Ross interview him. He says that he wants the NXT Title, and that Rollins feeds off the crowd, but he feeds off the anarchy. Graves says that the title is the stairway to heaven, but for him, that road leads through hell. Good, simple segment to set up the next title defense for Rollins.
Backstage, John Cena talks about how next week will be the NXT "Year in Review" show, and hails NXT as the home of future WWE stars.
William Regal and Jim Ross are calling the main event of Bo Dallas against Big Show. Regal strongly endorses Big Show's KO punch.
4 - BO DALLAS vs. BIG SHOW
Big Show immediately starts to destroy Dallas.
[Q4] Big Show looks cocky as he weathers a brief comeback from Dallas. Dallas sleeps out of a body slam attempt to put on a sleeper. Big Show looks for the ropes as Dallas tries to choke him out. Big Show finally sends his weigh backwards to drive Dallas into the mat. Dallas rolls away from an elbow drop to stay in the game. Dallas gets to his feet and tries to keep Show down, but Show gets to his feet. Show wants a chokeslam but Dallas slips out. Big Show with the KO punch and the pin.
WINNER: Big Show in 5:15. Dallas did a great job at playing the role of the guy everyone but himself knew would lose, and gained big sympathy points in the process. Big Show took just enough offense to make Dallas look good, but not so much that it couldn't be believed.
Final Reax: NXT continues to re-build. It was a bit frustrating to see so much time go to The Usos against Epico and Primo, when that could have been some NXT rookies in there. Graves and Rollins could make an excellent title match and build-up; Graves brings it on the mic and has in-ring skills, while Rollins is a genius inside the ropes.
