WWE NXT TV Results
May 10, 2011 - Season 5, Week 10
Taped in Nashville, Tenn.
Aired on WWE's website
By James Caldwell, PWTorch assistant editor

The cast of Season Five of WWE NXT (Pros):

-- Darren Young (Chavo Guerrero)
-- Jacob Novak (JTG)
-- Byron Saxton (Yoshi Tatsu)
-- Conor O'Brian (Kozlov)
-- Lucky Cannon (Tyson Kidd)
-- Titus O'Neil (Hornswoggle)

This week's WWE NXT episode opened with NXT announcer Todd Grisham introducing the show. Grisham said the contest will soon be whittled down to one. No word on when. Grisham was joined on commentary by William Regal, who was prepared to wrestle.

In-ring: Matt Striker welcomed back his co-host, Maryse. Maryse strolled to the ring as the announcers flashed back to last week's Raw when Kharma took out Maryse. In the ring, Maryse said she knows everyone is concerned about her. Boos interrupted her speech. She said she is doing...fine! Maryse then welcomed out *her* NXT Rookies. Out came the NXT Rookies as Regal offered some brief notes about what they need to do this week. No sign of Hornswoggle to back up Titus this week.

Once the Rookies were assembled ringside, Striker noted all six of these Rookies are competing for a slot on NXT6. A quick look at the standings had O'Neil 13, Young with 7, and Novak with 6. Striker then announced that voting will begin tomorrow on WWE's website and the first elimination is going down next week. Finally. Maryse explained this week's challenge: King of the Hill. Basically, an obstacle course. It's worth six Redemption Points.

All of the Rookies went at the same time rather than it being an individual timed race. O'Neil absolutely flew from ringside up the stage to get a flag, then ran back into the ring. He couldn't figure out how to sound the horn as Darren Young tried to grab the horn from him, but O'Neil eventually grabbed the horn to sound it. O'Neil gets the 6 points.

Titus then took the mic afterward and said he's concerned about Hornswoggle's whereabouts. He asked Grisham if he knows. How about you, Darren Young? "Where's Hornswoggle?!" Titus said he knows Young has had an issue with Hornswoggle all season, so he's going to beat some answers out of him in the ring tonight. Titus chucked the mic out of the ring toward Young, who acted confused by the accusations. Titus really showed something new in that promo.

[Break. Tough Enough - bodies are breaking and they're being pushed to the limit. Now is not the time to make mistakes. Next Monday: competition is down to the wire with six remaining. One wrong move is one contestant's last.]

1 -- TITUS O'NEIL vs. DARREN YOUNG

Young's Pro, Chavo, was on commentary for this match. Chavo said he might have been a culprit of kidnapping Hornswoggle six months ago, but he's grown fond of him. The bell sounded and Titus tried to beat some answers out of Young with clubbing forearms to the chest. Titus then shoved Young to the floor and Young acted like he was heading home, but Titus grabbed him and rolled him back into the ring. Titus approached Young and demanded to know where Hornswoggle is, then landed a big clothesline. Titus continued to bully Young before delivering another big clothesline.

Young eventually cut off Titus as Regal and Chavo reminisced about their WCW days when Regal was Lord Steven. Young continued to work over Titus until Titus caught him in an electric chair. Both men sold on the mat as the ref applied a ten count. Titus then tried to fire up the crowd for his comeback before Young scored with a quick roll-up for a three count, giving O'Neil his first loss on NXT5. Young smiled as he left the ring, where Titus continued to act frustrated.

WINNER: Young at 5:23. Above-average NXT match, mainly due to Titus showing some range performing in the ring. The Hornswoggle storyline was a bit silly, but it gave them something to compete over.

Earlier Today: Kozlov gave his Rookie, O'Brian, a new sambo jacket to prepare him for competition. Kozlov tightened his belt and locked up with O'Brian, who chuckled and said it's like dancing. "Dancing?!" Kozlov said before slamming him to the floor. Kozlov became frustrated with his Rookie's inability to do anything correctly.

Still to come: Byron Saxton vs. Conor O'Brian. In the main event: William Regal vs. Jacob Novak.

[Break]

2 -- BYRON SAXTON (w/Yoshi Tatsu) vs. CONOR O'BRIAN (w/Kozlov)

Before the match, they flashed back to last week when Saxton told Yoshi he doesn't want his help anymore. Grisham said he was surprised that Yoshi came out with Saxton this week. Saxton completely ignored Yoshi before the bell sounded to start this one off. At 1:30, they cut to a shot of JTG, Chavo, and Kidd on-stage scribbling notes on their clipboards. Meanwhile, Regal, who was celebrating a birthday, dryly thanked the WWE staff for buying him a timeshare in Iraq. At 3:00, Regal gave a wink & a nod to this being a snoozefest by saying the Rookies weren't showing any fire or sense of urgency with an elimination coming next week.

Saxton showed some fire with a comeback at 4:15, but he couldn't put away Conor with a pin attempt. Saxton then came off the top with a clothesline and it was good for the win. Yoshi excitedly entered the ring to celebrate with Saxton, who wanted nothing to do with Yoshi. Nice intensity from Saxton in the post-match.

Saxton then grabbed a mic and reminded Yoshi he's doing this on his own because Yoshi is too distracted with Maryse. Yoshi looked confused. He said it's either the language barrier or Yoshi is just too stupid. Yoshi understood that and got in Saxton's face. Saxton then told him he doesn't want or need him. Regal said that's not smart. Saxton then walked out of the ring selling he was upset.

WINNER: Saxton at 4:50. O'Brian should be gone next week. Just a vacuous character taking up space. Saxton stepped up this week conveying emotion and on the mic.

Backstage hallway: Lucky Cannon was waiting for Maryse to walk past him to express concern with Maryse. Maryse wasn't buying the nice guy act. Lucky said he just wants to give a peace offering. He wants to develop a professional relationship with her. Maryse ranted in French, then Lucky pulled out a gift. Maryse's eyes lit up and she stopped talking. Maryse pulled out a Louis Vuitton bag and freaked out. Maryse said she's willing to forget all that's happened in the past now. And good luck next week with the first elimination.

[Break]

Smackdown Rebound: Christian's journey to World Hvt. champion cut short by Randy Orton, the new World Hvt. champion.

Announcers: Grisham was joined by Striker on commentary ahead of the main event. They plugged Smackdown this Friday with the fall-out from Randy Orton taking the World Title from Christian.

NXT Rebound: Last week's show when JTG hyped Jacob Novak, who was scheduled to face Regal, but JTG took Novak's place. They included Regal's commentary knocking both Novak and JTG throughout the season to set the stage for the main event.

[Break]

Announcers: Grisham and Striker plugged the first elimination next week. Striker said he sees O'Neil as the favorite this season. Grisham quizzed him on Hornswoggle's whereabouts and said there should be an Amber Alert on him. In the ring, JTG hyped Novak as a Future WWE Superstar. He said his Rookie represents the three s's: strength, skill, and style. JTG told Nashville this city is definitely lacking style. He said he's heard their music, too. "Noise," Novak interjected. JTG asked where Trace Adkins is. He said it's whining to a beat, which is exactly what Regal is going to be doing tonight. Novak said he's laying the track down tonight. Out came Regal with a big smile on his face.

3 -- WILLIAM REGAL vs. JACOB NOVAK (w/JTG)

Novak danced around the ring, trying to avoid locking up with Regal, who eventually used his veteran skills to knock Novak to the floor. JTG tried to get Novak's head back in the game before re-entering the ring. Novak landed an elbow to the face to take control as they cut to break.

[Break]

Back from break, Novak scored a two count and settled into a headlock. Well, it was barely a headlock. Regal then escaped and rammed Novak in the shoulder blades to knock him into the corner. JTG shouted at Novak to get back on him and he did so. Regal then made a comeback and raked Novak's forehead across the top rope. Regal got a reaction playing to the crowd, then wanted a t-bone suplex, but Novak blocked and rammed Regal back into the corner. Novak landed an ugly forearm, then Regal stumbled out of the corner. Novak found himself in a bad position, though, and Regal capitalized with the Regal Stretch center-ring. Novak was forced to tap out, drawing frustration from JTG. Afterward, Regal paraded around the ring, fired up after the win, as Novak tried to talk down a frustrated JTG, claiming this isn't over yet.

WINNER: Regal via submission at 6:15. Novak's offense was pretty close to awful, while Regal did his best to cover for Novak's limited abilities in the ring. Novak continues to stand out doing his Slam Master J gimmick, but he isn't anywhere close to ready for the main roster. Regal continues to be a bright spot on a weekly basis.
