WWE NXT TV Results
April 5, 2011 - Season 5, Week 5
Taped in Charlotte, N.C.
Aired on WWE's website
By James Caldwell, PWTorch assistant editor

The cast of Season Five of WWE NXT (Pros):

-- Darren Young (Chavo Guerrero)
-- Jacob Novak (JTG)
-- Byron Saxton (Yoshi Tatsu)
-- Conor O'Brian (Kozlov)
-- Lucky Cannon (Tyson Kidd)
-- Titus O'Neil (Hornswoggle)

After a video delay, this week's WWE NXT episode opened with the usual NXT intro video before Todd Grisham welcomed viewers to NXT two days removed from WrestleMania. Grisham and William Regal sent it to the ring where Matt Striker and Maryse were standing by with the Rookies already assembled.

Striker recapped this Redemption season before noting O'Neil in the lead with 9 Redemptions points and Young with 7 points. Tonight's challenge is worth 4 redemption points. Maryse explained tonight's challenge is to simply answer a question correctly. Striker said it's Hot Seat Trivia. The category is WrestleMania 27 winners.

Young said Bret Hart. What? Young is gone. Saxton was next and he selected Undertaker. Novak blanked out and said Randy Orton in time. O'Brian said Snooki. Cannon answered that he knew where Striker's girlfriend was last night. So, he's gone. Titus said Cody Rhodes. Striker had to think about that one and said that's right. Saxton said Edge for a winner. Novak said Miz for a win. O'Brian blanked out and he's gone.

Three down. Next category is any inductee to the 2011 Hall of Fame. Duggan was Titus's pick. Saxton with Michaels to a big reaction. Novak with Sunny. Titus with Road Warriors. Saxton with Bullet Bob. Novak said he wanted Bullet Bob. He's done.

Titus and Saxton remaining. The category was name any Rookie from the past five seasons. They said themselves first. Then, they played tennis back and forth on this. Riley. Mike. Husky. Otunga. Daniel Bryan. Barrett. Eli Cottonwood. Brodus Clay. Curtis. (Yeah, that guy who won last season.) Derrick Bateman. Titus said Byron, but he was already mentioned by Saxton himself, so Saxton wins. Saxton is on the board with four points.

[Break to plug the new DX DVD and Tough Enough.]

1 -- CONOR O'BRIAN (w/Kozlov) vs. JACOB NOVAK (w/JTG)

Kozlov was in a suit with his shoulder in a sling to sell Corre's attack at Axxess on Saturday. Grisham said Novak changed from white trunks to gold trunks because Saxton said it looked like he was wearing diapers. Grisham said with conviction now it looks like Novak peed his diapers. Grisham added some meaningless trivia that Conor has two dogs. "I don't like dogs," Regal said in his low, ominous voice. Novak hung Conor upside down in the corner and Conor sold like he was folded up like an accordion. On-stage, Hornswoggle was perplexed by the predicament. Grisham noted Conor was shaken, but not stirred. "Where do you come up with this stuff?" Regal dryly asked. Conor then ducked a clothesline and rolled up Novak in the corner to score the win with a small package. Kozlov had a big laugh and congratulated Conor on the win with his one good arm.

WINNER: Conor at 4:11. Forgettable, basic match. One of these two will likely be the first to go.

Backstage: Lucky Cannon approached Yoshi Tatsu. He planted a false seed that Maryse was asking about him and he thinks she might like him. Yoshi then walked up to Maryse further down the hallway. "Maryse, do you think...maybe...will you go out with me?" Yoshi asked. Ted DiBiase then walked into the shot making his big TV return to smash Yoshi and throw him into a traveling case. DiBiase said he'll deal with Lucky later, but Yoshi won't pay for any of her expensive tastes. DiBiase said he has a match with Yoshi later. "Are you coming or not?" DiBiase asked. DiBiase walked off, then Maryse stepped over poor Yoshi to chase after ol' Ted.

[Break]

Hall of Fame recap: They aired a video package highlighting the 2011 Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

Announcers: Regal and Grisham talked on-camera about Shawn Michaels. Grisham said he can't wait for the next Hall of Fame induction ceremony next year before The Rock returns to the ring at WrestleMania 28.

Backstage: Kozlov and JTG shared some words after their Rookies battled in the ring. JTG said it takes more than winning a match to survive in WWE. JTG said you need flavor and style. Kozlov said his Rookie will be molded into a beast. Or something. JTG said he's going to turn Novak into a fly Rookie before Kozlov can turn O'Brian into a...beast. Kozlov had a big laugh and they shook hands. "Fo shizzle," Kozlov said. "Don't do that," JTG said, shaking his head.

[Break]

In-ring: Hornswoggle's music played to bring out Hornswoggle and Titus for a tag match. Chavo Guerrero's music brought out Chavo and Trivia-less Darren Young. Grisham revisited events from two weeks ago when Titus and Young faced off and their Pros became involved.

2 -- CHAVO GUERRERO & DARREN YOUNG vs. TITUS O'NEIL & HORNSWOGGLE

The announcers wondered if Titus should even tag in Hornswoggle here. They noted Titus's undefeated streak on NXT so far. Grisham and Regal then re-visited that awful period of TV on Raw when Chavo and Hornswoggle feuded and seemingly had a match every week. Horny then tagged himself in and told Chavo he wants Young. Chavo obliged and told Young not to hurt him. Young dropped down to both knees to wrestle Horny at his level, so Horny kicked him in the mid-section. Chavo then took a kick to the shin while standing on the apron.

Horny got in enough offense and tagged in Titus instead of pressing his luck. There was some confusion on the legal man leading to Horny biting Chavo on the foot. Horny then went home under the ring. Chavo gave chase. Meanwhile, Titus smashed Young with his sit-out slam finisher for the pin and the win. Chavo was dumbfounded by this. Horny and Titus then celebrated the victory for their kids.

WINNERS: Hornswoggle & Titus at 4:29. Comedy match for the kids complete with flashbacks to that Chavo-Hornswoggle feud.

Still to come tonight: Yoshi vs. DiBiase for Maryse's honor.

[Break. Collect WM27 merchandise. And WM28 will be held in Miami.]

Raw Replay: They aired a real-time replay of John Cena coming out at the end of Raw last night to call out The Rock, eventually setting up their WrestleMania 28 encounter. They included Corre's random run-in and eventual beating at the hands of RockCena.

In-ring: Back to NXT, Ted DiBiase walked out alone as Regal talked up Rock vs. Cena next year in Miami. Maryse was already ringside for the bout acting like DiBiase has to impress her tonight.

[Break. Tough Enough plug.]

In-ring: After a short break, they came back to show DiBiase waiting for Yoshi Tatsu. Regal said he thinks DiBiase needs to rid himself of Maryse to advance his career. Yoshi then stomped out looking very serious about this upcoming bout after the backstage attack.

3 -- TED DIBIASE vs. YOSHI TATSU

Yoshi showed early fire, including grabbing DiBiase by the cheek and slapping him across the face. Regal continued to stress that he feels DiBiase needs to get rid of Maryse. DiBiase then took control of the match and pounded on Yoshi with right hand blows. The ref reprimanded DiBiase, who did not adhere to a five count and was DQ'ed.

Post-match: Maryse yelled at DiBiase in French, then DiBiase jumped out of the ring and yanked the mic away from Maryse. DiBiase said he's had enough of Maryse on NXT. He gave her an ultimatum of NXT or him. Maryse looked straight ahead, not selling for the decision. DiBiase walked off and Maryse walked off with a frown. "What will The Decision be in seven days?" Grisham rhetorically asked to close the show.

WINNER: Yoshi via DQ at 1:57. As NXT Turns continues on next week...
