Arena: Michael Cole and Josh Mathews introduced the first show from WWE.com. On the stage, Matt Striker welcomed out the Season 3 Rookies and reminded them it's elimination week. The first competition is mechanical bull-riding. The Bella Twins gave a quick demonstration before the Rookies were up trying to earn points.
Naomi went 12.5. Aksana went 17.9 before being thrown down. A.J. was up next and went a measly 9.6. Jamie Keyes was next and dropped at 10.9. Pointless Maxine went 9.8. Cole noted she still won't win a competition. Kaitlyn glared at Vickie Guerrero before approaching the bull. She went 10.0. And the winner is Aksana. Her reward is a wrestling match up next.
Updated Season 3 Immunity Scoreboard:
-- A.J.: 3 points
-- Naomi: 2 points
-- Kaitlyn: 2 points
-- Jamie: 1 point
-- Aksana: 1 point
["Commercial Break." They plugged Smackdown on Friday with Rey Mysterio vs. Alberto Del Rio. Also, "Legendary."]
In-ring: Goldust, with the Million Dollar Title belt he took from Ted DiBiase on Raw, was in the ring with Aksana. They replayed the angle from Raw, then Maxine came out with Alicia Fox for the opening match.
1 -- AKSANA (w/Goldust) vs. MAXINE (w/Alicia Fox)
Basic start with some basic wrestling holds as the crowd rallied behind Aksana. Aksana then finished off Maxine with a roll-up countering a roll-up attempt by Maxine. And Maxine remains pointless.
WINNER: Aksana in 2:00. I wonder how many people are watching this on WWE's website. About what you would expect from a wrestling match on a show where WWE has ensured the matches don't matter since they don't factor in the competition. (n/a)
Announcers: Cole and Mathews fed to the Raw Rebound focusing on John Cena being forced to join Nexus, then forced to lose the battle royal to give Wade Barrett #1 contender status. They added some new camera shots of Cena dejectedly walking away after the match hanging his head on the way to the back.
Still to come: Vickie vs. Kaitlyn and a Talent Show.
[Break. Legendary is sponsoring this portion of the show.]
In-ring: The Rookies were assembled in the ring for the Talent Contest. Striker noted the judges will, of course, be the live audience. Aksana's talent was push-ups. Well...I've never seen a push-up like that. That was a feat of strength. Naomi did a rap. A.J. was up next. She joked she was going to give Michael Cole a personality. Her real talent was flexibility, apparently auditioning for Melina's slot on the roster.
Jamie said her non-PG talent was turning men on. Kaitlyn was up next. She drew a caricature. They charge $20 for a B&W and $30 for color at the State Fair. She drew a stick figure of Vickie Guerrero, which was worth about $2 and a crowd pop. Vickie sneered from the stage in advance of their match later tonight. Maxine was last. First, she wanted to apologize to Hornswoggle for the wheelbarrow deal last week. She asked Horny to come out and accept her apology in the form of a pie she baked. She dropped down to one knee and put some pie in Horny's face. Horny then stole the pie and splattered it on her face to give the heel her comeuppance much to the delight of the kids.
Striker calmed things down before polling the crowd on who should win. Aksana went over well. Naomi's rap did not. Jamie was booed. Kaitlyn's art drew a strong pop. Maxine was booed. Kaitlyn was declared the winner, giving her three points. A.J. also has three points. So, it's up the crowd to determine who's immune. A.J. was booed. Kaitlyn was cheered. She gets immunity tonight. Well, Kaitlyn is getting over through this competition and feud with Vickie.
[Break. WWE's Make-a-Wish work through the years.]
Still to come tonight: the first NXT Season 3 elimination.
[Break. Chris Jericho DVD plug. Don't Try This At Home. Rocktober on Classics-on-Demand.]
Backstage: Goldust was stroking the Million Dollar Belt as Aksana looked on approvingly. In walked a dude from immigration who handed Aksana a notice. Goldust vowed to take care of this. So apparently Goldust will hold up DiBiase for money to buy off immigration in exchange for returning the belt?
Video package: Kaitlyn and Vickie Guerrero's rocky relationship starting with episode #1.
In-ring: Dolph Ziggler's music hit to bring out the IC champion and Vickie Guerrero for the main event. Ziggler was looking more like a champion in a casual black suit. Vickie vs. her NXT Rookie, Kaitlyn, is up next.
[Break]
2 -- VICKIE GUERRERO (w/IC champion Dolph Ziggler) vs. KAITLYN
The bell sounded and Vickie started doing warm-up jumping jacks. And some more calisthenics. Kaitlyn popped Vickie in the mouth and Vickie cowered in the corner to complain. Kaitlyn sold concern, then Vickie pulled a switcheroo and slapped Kaitlyn. She cackled, so Kaitlyn slapped her. That quieted Vickie, who slipped out of the ring as Kaitlyn sold concern again. Vickie then yanked Kaitlyn through the ropes to the outside and smashed her into the guardrail. Cole sarcastically noted the intensity of the blood feud boiling over on the grand stage.
Back in the ring, Vickie worked over Kaitlyn before Vickie started selling a back injury. Kaitlyn then capitalized with a backbreaker, which drew a pop, for a two count. Moments later, Kaitlyn scored a pin on Vickie to win the battle. Afterward, Ziggler entered the ring and Kaitlyn excitedly celebrated with Ziggler, who didn't seem to mind. Ziggler then tried to shake off Kaitlyn as Vickie screamed and left the ring.
WINNER: Kaitlyn in 6:00. Nice execution (with some expectedly sloppy spots) of a match with a good back-story built up over a period of weeks leading to a competition to settle the conflict. Basic pro wrestling storytelling.
[Break. Smackdown plug.]
Ringside: Striker was with the Season 3 Rookies to find out who's eliminated first. Surprisingly, Jamie Keyes is gone. The Bella Twins fell down on the stage to sell they were distraught. Jamie took the mic and thanked the audience before talking up the other Rookies. Striker then signed off the show after a 55-minute online broadcast.
Updated Season 3 Immunity Scoreboard after Week 5:
-- A.J.: 3 points
-- Kaitlyn: 3 points
-- Naomi: 2 points
-- Jamie: 1 point
-- Aksana: 1 point
