In a new 65 minute interview available now to PWTorch VIP members, DGUSA wrestler Johnny Gargano talked about his entire career with PWTorch columnist Sean Radican. Gargano has had several tryout matches in TNA and WWE. In this exclusive excerpt, Gargano talks about a conversation he had with DGUSA booker Gabe Sapolsky about being ready to take his career to the next level.

“Wrestling on the indys is kind of like going to school to be a doctor, said Gargano.” “You can’t just go right ahead and start operating people and be successful at it and know what you’re doing. You have to go to school and learn. You have to do your work and put it all in so when you’re ready you can go and be the best doctor you possibly can be. That’s always been my mindset. I’ve always looked at guys like Bryan (Daniel Bryan) and Punk (C.M. Punk) and guys like that who did everything they possibly could on the indys and they were really set. They were ready to be a star and they went and became stars. Of course that doesn’t work in certain aspects and you have to be lucky, but that’s always been my mindset.”

In this interview, Gargano also discussed how touring in Japan has improved his wrestling. “I don’t think your talent improves so much when you go to Japan because a lot of people go to japan and they come back and they’re better wrestlers,” said Gargano. I don’t think your talent improves; I think you’re confidence improves. I think you’re way more confident in your abilities because you wrestle with those guys every night and its top level competition and you’re able to hang with them and put on matches so you believe in yourself a little bit more.”

In this interview Gargano also discusses his experience wrestling in CHIKARA, DGUSA, and EVOLVE. He talks about starting at the bottom in DGUSA and EVOLVE and how he was able to break out into the main event picture. He also talks about the importance of storytelling in his matches and talks about the improvements DGUSA has made in those areas.
