RADICAN’S DGUSA "UNTOUCHABLE" PPV REPORT
TAPED IN CHICAGO, ILL
PREMIERS ON PPV NOV. 12, 2010

”Untouchable 2010” premiers this Friday at 10:00 p.m. EST on most cable systems.

1 - - Open the Freedom Gate Champion BxB HULK vs. AKIRA TOZAWA vs. MIKE QUACKENBUSH – non-title match

quackuntouch.jpg
Hulk's dancer attacked him prior to the match. Jon Moxley came out and took her away with him. The distraction allowed Tozawa to jump Hulk, but Quackenbush quickly joined the contest. Tozawa had the upper hand on Hulk, but Quackenbush tossed him to the outside and locked Hulk in a nasty submission. Tozawa recovered and sent Quackenbush to the outside before going back after Hulk. Tozawa worked over Hulk's leg and screamed at the ref to see if Hulk wanted to submit, but Quackenbush eventually broke it up and tossed Tozawa to the outside. Hulk managed to fend off Quackenbush and Tozawa and he began to work over Tozawa with Quackenbush now down on the outside. Quackenbush appeared to have Tozawa pinned after a QD3, but Hulk broke up the pin. Hulk ended up slipping out of a German attempt and nailed Tozawa with a superkick to the head. He followed up with the E.V.O for the win.

Hulk got on the mic after the match and said he would take out everyone in Kamikaze USA one by one.

WINNER: BxB Hulk

STAR RATING: (***1/2) – This was a really good opening match. The design of the match was a lot of fun with Hulk having to fend off Tozawa or Quackenbush at different times. They built up to a nice finish that didn't overdo it with nearfall after nearfall. I like how they set the PPV off on this tone with the feud between Hulk and Kamikaze taking stage and giving some meaning to the opening contest.

Lenny Leonard and Chikarason were shown backstage. They talked about Hulk's comments towards Kamikaze USA. They then sent us to a Chuck Taylor promo. Taylor was backstage with Johnny Gargano and Ricochet. CIMA came into the room and said he was looking for a partner. He chose Ricochet, which seemed to anger Gargano and Taylor.

Da Soul Tochaz were shown in the ring. C-Red challenged any team to come out to face them, but Brodie Lee came out instead.

2 - - DA SOUL TOUCHAZ (Willie Richardson & Acid Jazz & Marshe Rocket) vs. BRODIE LEE – handicap match

Lee destroyed Jazz and Rocket. He called in Richardson. Lee eventually got taken out with a double team. Rocket went for a dive, but Lee punched him in the face. Richardson took a huge lariat on the outside. Lee then hit the truckstop on Jazz for the pin.

Lee said he wasn't done after the match and stated that he was coming for a Japanese man.

WINNER: Brodie Lee

STAR RATING: (n/a) – This was another impressive squash building Lee up as a monster.

3 - - SHINGO (w/CIMA) vs. DRAGON KID

They did a great video package hyping the match before kicking it to the ring. Both guys got big ovations coming to the ring. For some reason Dragon Kid started break dancing before the match, which allowed Hulk to destroy him with a big boot. That was odd. Kid fired back and went for a 6-1-9, but Shingo caught him and slammed him on the apron. Kid fired back and hit a moonsault off the second turnbuckle to the floor. Kid continued to run wild until Shingo no-sold a stunner and nailed him with a half-nelson back breaker that left both men down. Shingo blocked a dragonrana attempt and powerbombed Kid into the turnbuckles. He then hit a Gavin throw for a 2 count. Kid countered Shingo up top moments later and nailed him with a super ace crusher and an ultra-rana for a nearfall. They battled up to again moments later and Shingo hit an incredible DVD off the second rope where he landed with Kid, who kicked out at 2. Wow! The finish was just insane. Shingo hit made in Japan and Kid kicked out. He then dead-lifted him and hit the last Falconry for the pin while saluting the crowd.

Powerbomb!

WINNER: Shingo

STAR RATING: - (****) This was just an awesome match from start to finish. Shingo proved once again why he's one of the best in the world. He works so well as a heavyweight in DGUSA and he simply beat up Kid for most of the match. Kid's comebacks were great and he got some incredible nearfalls on Shingo down the stretch. The finish was simply awesome. This is a must-see match with excellent crowd heat from bell to bell.

They aired another really good video package hyping the Jacobs-Moxley match.

4 - - JIMMY JACOBS vs. JON MOXLEY (w/Val) – Chicago Street Fight

Jacobs came out wearing a white jacket covered in blood. Jacobs said this was the place where he hung a man upside down and drank his blood. Jacobs said it wasn't about that tonight. Jacobs said there was a time when he was a little berserk. He took off his pants to reveal his fluffy boots and the fight was on. There was huge crowd heat for Jacobs as he ran wild on Moxley on the outside. Val tried to distract Jacobs, but she ended up eating a boot from Moxley when Jacobs tossed her in his path. Moxley fired back and attacked Jacobs with the chain. Both men eyeballed each other from across the ring. Moxley presented a chain, so Jacobs went into his boot and took out two railroad spikes. He charged at Moxley and nailed him with both spikes busting Moxley open. Jacobs hung Moxley with the chain, but he managed to escape. This is fantastic. Jacobs hit Moxley with another spike shot and followed up with the contra code, but Moxley kicked out. Jacobs locked in the end time using the chain for leverage.

YAMATO came down to ringside and nailed Jacobs with a brainbuster, but Jacobs kicked out. Lee ran down and took out YAMATO. Both men went at it in the middle of the ring. Moxley hit a series of big moves, but Jacobs kept kicking out. Moxley covered Jacobs's face with his coat and wrapped the chain around his face. Moxley then nailed Jacobs with several chairshots to the back. Moxley then covered Jacobs for the pin. Wow!

WINNER: Jon Moxley

STAR RATING: (****) – This was a crazy match from start to finish. Jacobs was as good as I've ever seen him reprising his “huss” persona. The match utilized some really good storytelling as well with Moxley using a distraction to escape defeat. I liked Lee's run in on YAMATO as well, which really set the stage for the final sprint. This was another must-see match.

Jimmy Jacobs was shown throwing up backstage after his match against Moxley. He was then helped outside by two attendees.

5 - - RICH SWANN vs. DRAKE YOUNGER vs. CHUCK TAYLOR vs. JOHNNY GARGANO – Four Way Freestyle

After some rapid-fire exchanges inside the ring involving all four men, Gargano tossed Younger into the guardrail like a long dart. Swan then took out Gargano and Taylor on the outside with a dive moments later. Swann hit a fantastic hurricanrana on Gargano using Taylor's back as a springboard as the action continued to move along quickly. Taylor and Gargano formed an alliance and worked over Swann. Swann mounted another comeback when Taylor and Gargano began to argue. Swann hit a 360 doublestomp on Gargano. Younger came back from the dead and ran wild hittnig a DVD onto Swann. They did a big spot where everyone hit big moves and went down, but the crowd was kind of dead at this point. Drake hit his finish on Swann, but Gargano broke it up. Taylor finally finished off Younger with the awful waffle.

WINNER: Chuck Taylor

STAR RATING: (***1/4) – This wasn't as good as the Fourway Freestyle from “Enter the Dragon 2010,” but it was still a lot of fun. The match dragged a bit during some parts, but Swann really showed some good high-flying ability. Younger didn't bring a lot to the table here, but the others were all good during certain points.

Moxley cut a promo backstage with Kamikaze USA. He mocked the Warriors for bringing in Ricochet. Moxley told Hulk not to make empty threats.

Taylor was shown backstage gloating about winning two straight Fourway Freestyles. He said all of the factions should take notice of him.

6 - - WARRIORS INTERNATIONAL (CIMA & Ricochet w/ Dragon Kid) vs. SPEED MUSCLE (Naruki Doi & Masato Yoshino)

CIMA and Doi went at it and CIMA got a nearfall with a small package during an early exchange and they came to a stalemate. Doi and Yoshino managed to cut off Doi and worked over his arm, but he fought free and tagged in Ricochet, who hit a nice dropkick on Yoshino. Ricochet quickly got cut off and Speed Muscle began to work over his legs. Ricochet finally made the hot tag and CIMA ran wild. Ricochet then hit an incredible twisting press to the outside onto Speed Muscle and the crowd went berserk. The action broke down and Ricochet hit a back slide bomb on Yoshino for a near fall. Speed Muscle then took control and took out CIMA and Ricochet with a series of double team moves as the action broke down. CIMA urged Ricochet to go up top to finish off Yoshino, but Doi ran into the ring and cut him off. Doi followed up with a super German suplex on Ricochet for a nearfall. The crowd came to their feet after Ricochet broke up a double team powerbomb on CIMA, which left all four men down. Doi hit his finish and a big sliding kick, but Ricochet got his hand on the ropes. Doi went for the muscular bomb, but CIMA nailed him with a superkick. Ricochet went up top and nailed Doi with a double rotation moonsault for the win. Holy crap! The crowd came unglued as Leonard went nuts on commentary. Wow...just wow.
Ricochetuntouch.jpg
This is only the first rotation...

CIMA put over Ricochet big time after the match. CIMA told Ricochet he was now an official member of Warriors International. Johnny Gargano then came out. Gargano said he needed to grow up, so he put over Ricochet and said he deserved respect, which drew another chant for Ricochet. CIMA then told Gargano to leave and they celebrated together.

WINNERS: Ricochet & CIMA

STAR RATING: (****1/4) – This was just an awesome match centered around Ricochet. The crowd seemed burnt out at first, but they really got into the match once CIMA and Ricochet began their coming back. The finish of the main event is worth your $19.95 alone. That was insane, but the match itself was awesome as well.

They showed a slow-motion replay from several angles of the finish of the main event to end the show. Wow...just wow. Yeah, I said it again.

7 - - SILAS YOUNG vs. GRAN AKUMA vs. SAMURAY DEL SOL – Bonus match

Akuma continued to take shortcuts during the early stages of the match. Young and Akuma went at it. Del Sol then ran into the picture and took out Young. They did a nice three-way spot where Del Sol gave Akuma a hurricanrana after Young tossed him his way. Akuma got tied up in the corner and Young hit his signature headstand moonsault for the win on Del Sol.

Winner: Young

Star Rating (**)

Overall thoughts: (9.0) – This was an excellent show from top to bottom. The opening match was really strong and things never really slowed down. When the worst match on the show (not counting the bonus match) is a Four Way Freestyle, you know you have a strong card.

The Shingo-Kid, Jacobs-Moxley, and Warriors International-Speed Muscle matches were all four stars or better. Kid vs. Shingo was the classic heavyweight vs. high-flyer match. It was just an awesome match to watch unfold save for Kid inexplicably dancing at the beginning of the match. Moxley-Jacobs was another great brawl between these two, although it was odd watching the feud out of order since their blowoff match aired live and this match was taped before the live PPV. I can't say enough good things about the main event. It wasn't a MOTYC, but it was awesome and these guys found a new gear when it came to building to a new gear. Ricochet was simply awesome here and the finish where he hit a double moonsault really impressed me. With all the high-flying I see on the independent scene, Ricochet is the most impressive high-flyer going today. I highly recommend ordering the show this weekend.
