- Batista looked like a star when he came out, and the whole opening segment made him out to be a returning special attraction. I question his hugging Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, though. After the heinous things they did last fall, including ordering Big Show to knockout Dusty Rhodes, it makes Batista out to be a pretty self-centered jerk or oblivious to what’s been going on while he was gone. It takes some of the shine off his triumphant return if fans are contradicted regarding whether he’s for or against the Authority.

- WWE did a nice job hyping the Big Show vs. Brock Lesnar match at the Royal Rumble PPV. They made it seem like Lesnar met his match in a super-heavyweight who can toss him around. It’s a nice change for Show who had lost all momentum before this due to the horrible booking of his character during the fall. In the world of WWE, they have sold Show’s WMD punch as a killer move, so between Show’s size and his KO punch, it creates a sense of vulnerability that Lesnar normally doesn’t have.

- I was surprised to see Big E. Langston get pinned clean in the six-man tag match. The Superman punch that Roman Reigns threw to block Cody Rhodes’s Disaster Kick was a sweet move and looked great on slo-mo.

- Billy Gunn looks more and more like Mickey Rourke in “The Wrestler” every week. He could have been a real-life version of him, but he got his life together and is having a happy ending by working matches on Raw. Yes, he doesn’t have the cardio he should, but overall he’s really gotten his life back on track.

- Given the lack of hype for the Kofi Kingston vs. Randy Orton main event, WWE didn’t have confidence that would hold the audience. Instead, they focused throughout the show on the pending arrival of John Cena by showing the arena entrance going into multiple commercial breaks.

- I wish WWE would include soundbites with various wrestlers who are seen as “darkhorses” in the Royal Rumble match giving a plausible scenario of their winning the Rumble. So few people were given a chance to be portrayed as the least bit likely to win the Rumble. They could do a better job pretending, that’s all.

- Baker's Half-Dozen: Nice video tribute to Mae Young. Not a documentary by any means, but a nice mix of history or more recent memorable moments.
