Matt Hardy, in today's "Happy New Year" video, says "in life, not everything goes your way." Gee, thanks for that insight.

I know he's just marketing himself as best he can, and maybe he wants to keep his name out there to stay relevant in case he starts a wrestling training school or tries to get indy bookings or a final WWE run, but he's not showing any signs that his oddball narcissism and trite one-liners prevalent on the Internet in 2011 have gone away after a stint through drug treatment. He's the same Matt Hardy.

If he's not on drugs, does that mean a sober Matt Hardy thinks these videos are a good idea, too?

"I hope 2012 is the year for you."

Wow, words to live by.

He tells us to have the courage to change and the courage to grow. One way for him to show he has changed and is ready to grow is to actually hone up to his transparent lies and glassy-eyed b.s. sessions last year on YouTube. Really come clean about the problems he had and what he learned in treatment.

He can do what he wants. But I can write that I'm not encouraged by his return to YouTube. I haven't heard what I think his real fans would have wanted to hear, which is that his addiction to social media, his out of control oblivious narcissism, his glassy-eyed ramblings were all because of a problem he had that he's willing to admit to now. Then, if he wants to start a family and have a fresh start in 2012, do it using a different approach than he did in 2010 and 2011 where he embarrassed and shamed himself with one ridiculous video message after another.

Hardy says: "Work hard, be the best person you can be, be honest with yourself and others, and have the courage to change, have the courage to grow."

How about he be honest with himself and his YouTube fans, and have the courage to hone up to his past mistakes - expllcity - and assure his fans that he has changed. Tell us what he learned at rehab, how he's not afraid to admit the depths he sunk to, that his ego is back in line after being widly out of whack the last two years, that he apologizes for endangering the lives of his very fans when he got the behind the wheel in the condition he did time after time last year, and explain why that is less likely to happen this year.

More empty, generic, trite platitutes presented as some form of deep wisdom delivered by a sage on YouTube doesn't pass for change in my view, when it comes to Matt Hardy.
