Mick Foley wrong a long (almost 5,000 words long) blog about how Dave Meltzer hurt his feelings and showed a loss of passion or objectivity because he stopped liking his promos as much as he used to - or something along those lines. I like reading books, so 5,000 words doesn't scare me, but getting through 5,000 words largely obsessing about someone's motives for critiquing your promos without seriously addressing the obvious - that they're not nearly as good as they once were - does test my patience.

Anyway, that's not the subject Mick Foley gets to distract us into writing about. What I want to hear - and if he takes nearly 5,000 words to write it, I'll read every word more than twice - is how he can reconcile and justify watching from his position as special referee of the match Tommy Dreamer subject his very young daughters to their father taking a beating four feet away from them?

I know this subject may seem to stray too far away from Mick Foley's speciality, which is talking about Mick Foley and all of Mick Foley's accomplishments in varied media and Mick Foley's fan following and what Mick Foley can offer the industry that nobody seems to fully appreciate and other things Mick Foley, but I'll try to relate it to him enough that maybe he'll tackle it.

Mick Foley subjected his young sons to a dozen or so (was it really 20?!?) stiff unprotected chairshots to the head at the Royal Rumble '99 against Rock in the I-Quit match. He once said he regretted it in retrospect. I was appalled at the time didn't think it took any 20/20 hindsight to see how sick and inappropriate that was.
