Pro Wrestling Torch was established in 1987 by Wade Keller. One of the primary traits PWTorch has been credited with over the years is assembling the best and most diverse staff of columnists with broad knowledge, but also areas of specialty where they have a particularly strong grasp of history. Every day PWTorch.com presents that team of writers answering your questions, some of which are fact-based and others of which are opinion-based. Either way, we've got you covered with Bruce Mitchell, Pat McNeill, Sean Radican, Greg Parks, James Caldwell, and Wade Keller. Collectively they have over 80 years working for the Torch, writing about wrestling and studying industry history and trends.

If you have a question you'd like us to respond to, send your question to askpwtorch@gmail.com. I, along with the Torch staff, will address you questions in this feature and also the “Ask PWTorch: All-Star Panel” edition which is also published most days here at PWTorch.

PWTorch reader Charlie M. asks: Hey guys. What are the chances that other major New Japan PPVs will be broadcast in English? I loved watching Wrestle Kingdom 9 with English commentary, and would love to see the G1 Climax tourney, or at least the finals, broadcast in English as well. Thanks guys.

PWTorch columnist Sean Radican answers: If the Wrestle Kingdom 9 PPV did 8,000-10,000 buys, I would say there's a very good chance you'll see more NJPW shows broadcast in English in the U.S. I'm also guessing a regular English announce team will be added to NJPW live airings of PPVs at some point in the near future if they end up doing an English version of the site, which I think is a good possibility.

PWTorch columnist Greg Parks answers: It really all depends on the buyrate. If it did enough PPV buys, we'll likely see another one, but that doesn't necessarily mean we'll get it with English commentary, either. But if they're airing it in America, they really should have something like that offered to make it more accessible.

PWTorch reader R. Jack asks: I have a question on the two hottest WWE stars over the past few years: C.M. Punk and Daniel Bryan. Both wrestlers got red hot with the fans, but not with management behind the scenes. Punk was buried by Triple H and John Cena. Daniel Bryan was buried by Triple H and Randy Orton. They did stay over, but big money making pushes were gone. Did WWE bury both because they didn't fit the "big guy" role as top stars? Why would they ruin big such lucrative opportunities?

PWTorch columnist Greg Parks answers: They are two very different examples, and if we're saying they were "buried," it was for two completely different reasons. Yeah, Punk wasn't big size-wise, but he was big enough where if he toed the line and didn't share his opinion so often, he'd still be in the middle of a sizable push. Bryan gets along with everyone and his attitude behind the scenes has never really been in question. It's his look that's docked him points in the eyes of WWE management, especially early in his career. However, WWE was pushed by the fans in the direction of going all the way with Bryan.

PWTorch editor Wade Keller answers: Punk got a long run with the title, but being deep into his 30s and walking around looking beat up and injured and never fitting in well with management as a company guy all scared them away from getting too much heavier into pushing him than they did. He had a nice run. He wanted a WrestleMania main event final match, but it just didn’t match up with what Vince McMahon envisioned for Punk. The fact that Punk didn’t get exactly what he wanted doesn’t mean he was buried. He got one of the biggest pushes WWE has given to anyone not named John Cena the last five years. But yes, if Punk was an inch or two taller, more muscular, six years younger, got along better with Triple H, was more of a company guy and less of an independent thinker, and his body wasn’t breaking down, he probably would be in the WrestleMania main event this year. That’s a lot of “ifs”, though.

With Bryan, he was the Main Eventer of Last Resort last year after Batista flopped with fans and Punk quit. But he got the main event win, and that shows that McMahon didn’t hate him. Had Bryan stayed healthy and drawn as a champion and sold mega-merchandise, he probably would be in the main event mix this year again at WM31. His size and overall look works against him as WWE has parameters for what they default to as far as the look of a top star and Bryan is pretty much the opposite of it. Saying he was buried is overstating it. Saying WWE stubbornly resisted pushing someone harder and quicker who the fans had wildly embraced like few wrestlers over the last 10 years is definitely true.

Blaine S. from Texas asks: Whatever happened to Gary Michael Cappetta after David Penzer took over the ring announcing duties in WCW?

PWTorch columnist Greg Parks answers: He wrote an autobiography called, "Bodyslams! Memoirs of a Wrestling Pitchman." It's available via online retailers.

===

PWTorch reader Forrest M. asks: I've often said that ROH is my favorite wrestling organization right now. I'm a wrestling nut and still pay attention to WWE, but I prefer ROH and independent wrestling. 3XWrestling in Iowa is also a promotion I enjoy. There are so many independent promotions out there. Which ones do you consider to be "must see" or at least enjoyable?

PWTorch columnist Greg Parks answers: Even with its faults, I also enjoy ROH. I'd throw PWG in there as well as DGUSA as two other independent promotions worth seeking out.

PWTorch reader Aaron P. asks: Who are some of the people WWE would never rehire? Is anybody really off limits, seeing as they've rehired guys like Brock Lesnar, Sable, and Jesse Ventura, who've sued them in the past? Like would they rehire guys like Randy Savage (if he was still alive), Shane Douglas, or Jeff Jarrett (if they were younger and still could contribute something)?

PWTorch columnist Greg Parks answers: I suppose nothing is really off the table, but remember, the other person would have to have something valuable to WWE for WWE to bring them aboard. Jeff Jarrett is a name that immediately comes to mind. I think he'd make a good backstage agent/producer, but with GFW just starting up, that's not really feasible. Plus, I don't know that he'd be satisfied in a minor role like that.

PWTorch editor Wade Keller answers: There’s almost nothing one could do to burn a bridge with Vince McMahon. He takes pride in people who have fallings out with him coming back into the fold, such as Bret Hart, Bruno Sammartino, Ultimate Warrior, and now Alundra Blayze/Madusa. In part he does it because he puts what’s best for WWE ahead of personal grudges. Another part of it is to show, as Ted DiBiase said, everyone has a price for the Million Dollar Man. I think there’s part of him that takes pride in not holding a grudge forever. Now that said, if you’re not of use to him and won’t submit and humble yourself to some degree, then you’ll stay on the enemies list. I don’t think Jeff Jarrett and Vince McMahon would really ever link up as Jarrett was raised to be and is hard wired to be a leader, and I don’t see Jarrett with the financial security he seems to have ever deciding to toil in a job with WWE behind the scenes, knowing he’d have to pay for his past sins one way or another, perhaps through passive aggressive acts by Vince over time.
