The new "Ask the Specialists" Roundtable is the latest spin-off from the "Ask the Torch" feature. CSI led to CSI: New York and CSI: Miami, which is where you'll find the Specialists tackling a daily topic submitted by PWTorch readers to askpwtorch@gmail.com.

Ask the Specialists Roundtable #23

- Question from Jeff in Michigan: What is the best way to resolve the WWE Title situation so we don't go through another game of hot potato with Rey Mysterio and John Cena last time?

- "Falls Count Anywhere" Tony Donofrio (@TonyDonofrio) responds: In the past week I've thought about this and I think the best solution is one that WWE won't take. I'd love to see them take a UFC-type approach by crowning interim champions while current champions are on the shelf with injuries. This helps viewers keep in mind that the champ will return and you have a title match and/or feud ready to go when the champ does return. I'd love to see this happen on Raw tonight, but I doubt WWE will go this route.

I'm guessing we will see Daniel Bryan stripped leading to a tournament, battle royal, or some sort of multiple-wrestler match in the near future to crown a new champion.

- "Common Fan" Jimmy Eaton (@TheCommonFan) responds: I think it depends on Bryan's timetable for returning, Jeff. If it's in a month or two, then WWE can get away with Shield-Evolution as the main story followed with a #1 Contender tournament of sorts. If Bryan will be out 4-6 months? Then I think they have to strip him of the title. That would of course be the worst of the two scenarios but with a silver lining. Seeing Bryan come back to take the title again would be a great story. I hope he heals quickly and that whatever they do, it works out for everyone. Thanks again for the question, Jeff!

- "Mr. TV" Justin James (@Justin_M_James) responds: Assuming there is a “title situation” to resolve (at the time of writing, there is no word on Daniel Bryan's recovery timeline), he is going to have to vacate the title, but do so in a way that puts real heat on The Authority, but does not re-heat the tired feud with Triple H and carries TV past the Kane situation a.s.a.p.

Do something like have a tournament set up so Stephanie can claim they aren’t just handing the title to Kane, and have Cesaro come out of left field to win it. Have Cesaro feud with Kane during Bryan’s recovery, and put some babyface traits under him while having his character warm up to the idea that Paul Heyman is leeching off of his natural talent without adding any value to his career. Depending on how things go with Bryan’s recovery and his title run, he can stay heel for Bryan to take the title back, or he can run with the ball for 3–6 months and develop as a babyface.

- Question from Jamie in the U.K.: In light of Daniel Bryan's neck surgery, possibly putting his title reign and/or career in jeopardy, do you think that people like Bryan should be working should a hard, brutal style on the independents before making it in the big leagues? Whilst the matches are great, I'm sure those 60/50/40 minute matches take a lot of people like Bryan and risk more injuries. It would be a shame to see Bryan's time come to and end just as his biggest time in his career begins. Besides, pretty much everyone will remember Bryan for his run with WWE mainly. I take nothing away from his time in ROH, DGUSA, etc., but his run in WWE is what he will be remember for.

- "Common Fan" Jimmy Eaton (@TheCommonFan) responds: I see what your seeing, Jamie, and I'm sure that his style on the Indies may come back to haunt him when it comes to career longevity. But, the same things can be said about Mick Foley and he still had a great career. So, I think as long as Bryan can adapt his style to protect his body a bit more, it'll do wonders.

The one downside of the indies may be that "nothing to lose mentality," but it seems to be more often than not, a double-sided sword due to the fact that sometimes that recklessness is what gets people noticed. It comes down to balance. Thanks for the question!
