WWE star Daniel Bryan was booked for the Elimination Chamber PPV pre-show last month to discuss the future of his wrestling career.

"First off, my career is not over," Bryan declared during a Miz TV segment on May 31. "I will be back."

However, WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart believes Bryan's wrestling career is over. And it appears that Hart is going off information about Bryan experiencing concussion-like issues.

Hart, who knows what it's like to have a career cut short in the ring, told Sports Illustrated in a long-form interview earlier this month why he believes Bryan will not be able to return to the ring.

“Daniel Bryan is finished,” Hart told SI's Justin Barrasso. “He’ll never wrestle again. I don’t think he knows it yet. I feel terrible about Daniel Bryan. For all intents and purposes, he had the exact same thing happen to him that happened to me after Bill Goldberg kicked me in the head."

According to a new Wrestling Observer report, the main situation came shortly after WrestleMania when Bryan "had a concussion issue" following a match with Sheamus on the April 2 Smackdown. After April 2, Bryan continued wrestling - mainly tag matches - including six-man tags on the first few shows of the European Tour in mid-April before he was sent home.

Also according to the report, WWE initially shot down the notion that Bryan was taken out of the ring due to a concussion situation, but Hart "basically gave it away" in the interview.

In the interview, Hart drew attention to Bryan trying to wrestle full-speed when he returned from injury at the start of the year. Included was a stretch of eight matches in two days when WWE booked Bryan and Roman Reigns in a tag team gauntlet match at a Smackdown taping in mid-February the night after they wrestled two matches on Raw.

The reported concussion issue from Bryan's match against Sheamus may have been unrelated to Bryan returning to the ring full-speed, but it was apparent to Hart that Bryan was at-risk for further injury coming off major neck/shoulder surgery.

“I saw him in a lot of his matches after he came back from the injury, and he was taking suplexes on the back of his head, powerbombs, and other really dangerous moves,” Hart told SI. “I know he wanted to test it out, but I think he may have pushed himself too hard. He’s like Dynamite Kid in the sense that they’re both tough and neither wanted to admit that injuries got the best of them. He’s finished forever, but I don’t think he’s even realized that. He’s probably thinking, ‘Maybe it will get better in a few months,’ but unfortunately, I don’t think it will.”
