WWE Raw News & Notes 3/30
-- WWE temporarily wrote off former WWE World Hvt. champion Brock Lesnar via "indefinite suspension."
The angle played out with WWE teasing a Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins WWE Title match to follow up on how WrestleMania ended with Rollins successfully cashing in MITB during the Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns title match.
However, Seth backed out of the match at the last second just before the bell sounded. This set off Lesnar, who took out the announcers, Rollins's J&J Security, and a cameraman, drawing Stephanie McMahon's wrath. Stephanie then suspended Lesnar and vowed to fine him.
-- Concerning the WWE Title picture, Lesnar is now on the back-burner, Roman Reigns (who the crowd booed throughout a main event six-man tag match) is still in-play for another title shot, and Randy Orton also stepped up to claim a future title shot against Rollins after beating Rollins in a singles match at WM31.
-- Michael Cole took the worst of the announcer injury angle. WWE announced a fictional injury update that Cole has a "possible cervical fracture" after being roughed up by Lesnar and taking an F5.
Also, Booker T and JBL were part of the injury angle when Lesnar chucked the announce table over them. Byron Saxton, from the Raw pre-show, then replaced the announce trio. He was eventually joined by Smackdown announcer Jerry Lawler to finish the broadcast.
-- Triple H did not appear on Raw after beating Sting at WrestleMania. WWE then saved an interview with Sting for after Raw went off the air on WWE Network. Standing in the ring, Sting teased being open to more match possibilities, acknowledged an "Undertaker" chant for a potential future match, and said he was just happy to be at WrestleMania, even if he lost to Hunter.
-- WWE played up the Ronda Rousey angle from WrestleMania throughout the show. WWE also highlighted a tweet from Rousey on Monday saying her involvement in WWE has "only just begun," teasing a future match/angle after getting involved with The Rock opposite Hunter and Stephanie at WM31.
-- John Cena retained the U.S. Title against Dean Ambrose, who answered an "Open Challenge" for a title match. Cena and Ambrose wrestled an even 15-minute match, then Cena showed Ambrose respect after the match.
-- Daniel Bryan retained the Intercontinental Title against Dolph Ziggler in a singles match. After former IC champion Bad News Barrett attacked Bryan, Sheamus made his big return to TV. At first, Sheamus helped Bryan, but then he made it clear he was returning as a heel by taking out Bryan, then Ziggler.
Sheamus introduced a wild new look of a bright, red mohawk and pointy beard with Cpt. Lou Albano-looking braids. The crowd chanted, "You Look Stupid," which Sheamus heelishly egged on before announcing that he's back.
-- Raw also featured the debuts of NXT stars Kalisto as part of the Lucha Dragons tag team and former NXT champion Adrian Neville (just going by Neville). Kalisto was highlighted and won an eight-man tag match, which the NXT/hardcore crowd appreciated. Neville then wowed the crowd in a squash match victory over Curtis Axel.
-- Bray Wyatt did not appear on Raw after losing to The Undertaker at WrestleMania. Rusev, who lost the U.S. Title to Cena at WM31, returned to TV sans Lana and squashed Goldust to begin his march back to respectability.
-- The Miz vs. Damien Sandow feud continued. After Sandow beat Stardust in a singles match, Miz attacked Sandow from behind and beat him down. This followed Sandow finally breaking free from Miz during the Andre Battle Royal at WrestleMania.
-- Announced for Thursday's Smackdown is a big tag match of Bryan & Ziggler vs. Sheamus & Barrett. WWE also advertised appearances by John Cena, Roman Reigns, and Randy Orton.
