Former WWE star Alberto Del Rio talked in-depth about the incident that led to him being fired by WWE, potentially taking legal action against WWE, and his post-WWE future in an interview on Mexico TV.

Del Rio appeared in-studio on Televisa's Primero Noticias program to break down his firing and also offer his viewpoint that he was a victim of racism...

The incident occurred at the Smackdown TV taping in Laredo, Tex. on August 5. Del Rio noted he confronted WWE's social media manager (Cody Barbierri) after being told of an alleged racist joke. Del Rio then struck Cody in front of a group of referees and wrestlers, including Jack Swagger.

(Coincidentally at the same TV taping, the "Main Event" program featured Del Rio flipping to a babyface role opposite pro-USA Swagger to deliver a pro-Mexico promo aimed at the predominantly Hispanic audience in Laredo.)

Del Rio added that WWE CEO Vince McMahon pulled him aside to note that he cannot strike employees, but he did not mention anything about a suspension or firing.

Later in the week, Del Rio found out that he was suspended. Triple H then called him to tell him that he's being released, terminating his contract.

After recapping the events, Del Rio talked about possibly taking legal action against WWE for what he views as unlawful termination of his contract by prohibiting him from working.

Del Rio also noted that he did not plan to re-sign with WWE when his contract expired in February. Del Rio noted he was already talking with his family about whether he would continue with WWE due to the difficult schedule or try to reduce his workload to be home more.

As for his future in wrestling, Del Rio noted he immediately got in touch with AAA, who booked him for Sunday's "TripleMania" show. He also said he got offers from promotions in Japan and other North American companies.

Dek Rio added that he will continue going by "Alberto" since it's his real first name, but will mainly go by "El Patron" when wrestling in Mexico.
