Former WWE announcer Jim Ross talked in-depth about his current health in an exclusive interview one month ago on the May 2 PWTorch Livecast.

Included was Ross revealing that he quit smoking at the start of the year and has made other health-related changes in his early 60s.

"I'm really at a good place. I actually quit smoking in January, which was a good thing," Ross told Wade Keller and Bruce Mitchell on the Livecast. "And, I go to the gym about five or six days a week. A lot of cardio. I've limited dairy consumption, watching the sugar in-take, so I'm actually trying to do better things for my health."

Ross, who was hospitalized this week following a health scare, also said that not being in a full-time wrestling environment has contributed to health improvements.

"I'm not in a stressed-out world anymore. All the things I'm doing, I like to do. And I'm doing them by choice, not because they're assigned to me or this is your role or this is your job. I like to do everything that I'm involved in. The podcast - I don't have to get on an airplane to do the podcast. When I write for Fox Sports, I don't have to leave my house," Ross said.

Ross added that his final meeting with Vince McMahon last year was another contributor to jump-starting a healthier lifestyle.

"I'm really in a good place. Sometimes I miss not being in the day-to-day, but that lessens each and every week. I knew that it was the right decision when WWE and I parted ways because it was the most enjoyable ride from Stamford to LaGuardia that I could ever remember. I just didn't feel like I had any pressure on me anymore," Ross said.

"I removed a lot of stress from me after that meeting with Vince. And I've been feeling really good ever since. Some of these lifestyle changes - I hope they let me stay around a little longer. When both parents die at 64 and you are 62, you can't help but think of your own mortality. It's not an anxiety issue; I'm not having panic attacks. Nothing like that. It's just that lingering thought in the back of your head: 'Why don't you do some things that keep you around a little longer?' So, that's kind of what I've done. And, everything is good. Life is very good here in Oklahoma."
