WWE Royal Rumble news & notes 1/26

-- Batista won the 30-man Royal Rumble match to earn a WWE World Title shot at WrestleMania 30. The crowd booed the decision heavily after the Rumble.

-- John Cena, Big Show, and Daniel Bryan were not in the Rumble match following losses on the undercard.

-- The Rumble "surprise" entries were Kevin Nash, commentator JBL, and Sheamus returning from injury.

-- WWE recorded 12 eliminations for Roman Reigns, setting the new record for Rumble eliminations in one match.

-- NXT star Alexander Rusev made his WWE TV debut in the Rumble match.

-- Dolph Ziggler returned to in-ring action as a Rumble entrant after going through a concussion recovery period.

-- The New Age Outlaws captured the WWE Tag Titles from the Rhodes Bros. on the PPV kick-off match.

-- Bray Wyatt beat Daniel Bryan in a strong opening match. In the WWE World Title match, Wyatt distracted John Cena, allowing Randy Orton to beat Cena to retain the WWE World Hvt. Title.

-- Brock Lesnar beat Big Show in an ambush more than a match to cover for Show being injured.

-- The crowd took over the final two hours of the show, chanting for Daniel Bryan and other random items during the Orton vs. Cena match. They also booed the developments in the Rumble, especially when Bryan was not included in the Rumble match.

-- Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger was shown sitting ringside during the PPV.
