After throwing out the first pitch at the Miami Marlins game on Saturday night, August 24, Bill Goldberg spent about 20 minutes answering questions from the media on a wide range of topics.

Given that Brock Lesnar and Goldberg left WWE at the same time - both under less-than-ideal circumstances following WrestleMania 20 nearly a decade ago - I asked Goldberg if he was surprised to see Lesnar back with WWE.

"No, not at all," said Goldberg. "The reality is, if you're a smart businessman, you leave opportunities open. Why wouldn't he come back and capitalize on what he did in UFC and get a 23-day deal for a year? Why wouldn't you do that?"

Goldberg also said if he were approached with a deal similar to the one inked by Lesnar, he'd even think about it. "I'd consider something like that, for sure," Goldberg said.

Goldberg noted that he trains in Muay Thai three days a week, saying he's still in good physical condition. Of those who have gone from wrestling to MMA, such as Batista, Goldberg acknowledged that it's good business for them to do so.

Goldberg added that he patterned his character after MMA athletes after watching the first UFC show, saying he knew it would become big. While the gloves he wore in the ring were an homage to that MMA inspiration, Goldberg also said he felt as if someone were punched with a bare hand, they should bleed. He said using gloves added a realism element to his in-ring work.
