Prior to WWE wrestler Ted DiBiase announcing his departure from WWE on Monday, his father, "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase, talked to PWTorch one month ago about why DiBiase was not being used on television.

"The reason he's not been back on TV is they don't want to just throw him back out there," DiBiase told PWTorch editor Wade Keller on the July 19 PWTorch Livecast. "I've had a lot of frustration there, too, as a dad, in trying not to be biased. I asked all my friends - Arn Anderson, Mike Rotunda, the guys who are the producers now - I said, 'Did I miss something? Is there something wrong with my kid? Does he not have it?' They say, 'Oh no, he's one of the best wrestlers we got.' I said, 'What's the deal?' They said, 'We just have to find something for him.'"

MDM DiBiase foreshadowed Ted, Jr. needing to make a decision on his future while waiting for a potential re-introduction.

"It's about getting on with life and the clock is ticking. So, if you're going to do something with me, then let's do it (laughs)," MDM DiBiase said, speaking from Ted, Jr.'s perspective.

Reflecting on Ted, Jr.'s career, MDM DiBiase said it was tough for his son to recover from how he was introduced as a rich, snobby kid with the Million Dollar Title Belt when that wasn't true to his character.

"It's frustrating, too, for him because he came on the scene like he was shot out of a cannon," DiBiase said. "It's kind of like there are certain types of characters or roles. As much as Ted tried to be a heel, everyone wants to like him."

"There is a guy already there in the role that my son would best fit. And his name is John Cena (laughs)," DiBiase.

In the absence of territories, MDM DiBiase also talked about a lack of places for his son to work while waiting for WWE to find a new role for him.

"It is kind of a shame because there aren't many places to go. That might be something for him to think about. But, it has nothing to do with his talent," MDM DiBiase said.
