Fifteen years ago this week, WWE Hall of Famer Edge (Adam Copeland) was preparing for a one-week try-out session at WWE's training facility at company headquarters in Connecticut.

At the time of this news, before any mainstream wrestling fan even knew who Copeland was, the scouting report on Copeland, as reported in the Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter, was that the future Edge "had potential."

From the PWTorch Newsletter Archives in January 1998:

"Twelve WWF wrestlers and prospects began a one-week training session on Sunday, Jan. 4 at the WWF training facility in Stamford, Conn. Pat Patterson and Dory Funk Jr. are the main trainers, teaching mat skills and ring psychology. Ahmed Johnson, Marc Mero, Taka Michinoku, Henry Godwinn, and Kurrgan are the current full-timers who are participating. Ahmed is said to have lost 30-some pounds, down to 280 and looks much better than just a couple of months ago. Taka is learning ring psychology to go along with his highspots. He also continues to learn English.

"Also in the camp are Tiger Ali Singh, Adam Copeland (a 22-year-old, 6-4, 240 pounder with long blond hair, said to have potential), Shawn Stasiac (son of the late Stan Stasiac), Steve Blackman ("fan from the stands"), and a few former college football player prospects."
