Linda McMahon Campaign Notebook

-- The FiveThirtyEight statistical blog published by the New York Times is now predicting former WWE CEO Linda McMahon has a 12 percent chance of winning the U.S. Senate election in Connecticut. This is down from 14 percent earlier in the week. The election is on Tuesday. [ Figures reported here at NYTimes.com ]

-- Linda McMahon's campaign is seeking "an emergency court order" requiring the city of New Haven certify its balloting system prior to Tuesday's polling to ensure a fair election. The city registrar responded that New Haven has enough ballots to cover "110 percent" of the voter list. New Haven's Republican Registrar of Voters, Rae Tramontano, classified the campaign's move as "petty" and aggravating.

“We’re good. This is petty stuff. I’m so mad at these people,” Tramontano said about the Republican party candidate, McMahon. “I’m getting so mad at them, I might not vote for her.”

The city's corporate counsel representative, Victor Bolden, went a step further calling the campaign's move "political grandstanding." Bolden added, "This is spending taxpayer money and wasting time. This is what happens in the silly season in a political campaign." [ CT Mirror report here ]

-- U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, who beat Linda McMahon for Connecticut's other Senate seat in 2010, campaigned for McMahon's 2012 foe, Chris Murphy, on Thursday. Blumenthal's main focus was on empathizing with Murphy facing an onslaught of campaign ads funded by $50 million.

Blumenthal also stressed that he would like to work with Murphy in Congress. Linda's campaign responded that McMahon is "willing to work with anyone who is willing to work with her," even Blumenthal, who campaigned against McMahon two years ago. [ AP report here ]
