Retired former WWE star Shawn Michaels re-stated in an interview that he's "not going to wrestle again," answering the age-old question facing any retired pro wrestler.

"The only way a 185-pound guy made it in that business is to do something nobody else ever did. The best thing I can do is to stay retired, because nobody ever stays retired," Michaels told the Amarillo (Tex.) Globe-News in an interview.

"I'll still be part of the company. You never really get out of WWE unless you're wearing concrete shoes at the bottom of the Hudson River, but no more active wrestling."

Nearly one year removed from his retirement match at WrestleMania 26, Michaels is sticking to what he said leading up and after the match that he was "ready to go."

"I wouldn't have agreed to do that if I wasn't ready to go. It is a wonderful job, but you can only climb the mountain so many times. I wanted to raise my kids. My kids are still young, and I didn't want to miss that," Michaels said.

Michaels was also asked about Amarillo/Canyon, Tex. resident Terry Funk, whose legacy includes un-retiring several times during his lengthy career.

"He was great. He is nuts and that is right up my alley. He was phenomenal to me when I first started, him and Dory (Funk, Jr.) They're guys that I watched and wanted to be like. I just never grew out of it."

-- The main focus of Michaels's interview is on hunting and his Christian faith, as Michaels made an appearance at the Outdoor Adventure Foundation Fundraising dinner banquet in Amarillo on Saturday night.

Michaels talks about how hunting and his faith intersected over a decade ago following WrestleMania 14 when his wrestling career appeared to be over and how it continues to be part of his identity today.

"I was told I was never going to wrestle again," Michaels said. "I was not in a great place in my life at that time. I started thinking there has to be more to life than this. Hunting was the start of that for me."
