During tonight's "Hardball with Chris Matthews" political talk show on MSNBC, former WWE CEO Linda McMahon's past business in WWE was labeled "softcore wrestling porn" during a topical discussion on women candidates running for office this season.

The context of the discussion was how the type of female candidates has changed in the current political scene, with the number of conservative women growing, following Sarah Palin's lead, while Democratic party women could be ousted from Congressional seats.

Panelist Margaret Carlson of Bloomberg applied the "wrestling porn" label to McMahon in the context of her running with a harder edge in the Connecticut Senate race due to her background.

"There's a certain kind of woman that's going to do okay. You have the momma grizzlies, but it's the grizzly part, not the momma part that's working. You have to be a bear to knock down the tent," Carlson said before Matthews asked for some specific names.

"Linda McMahon. Can you imagine more of a bear? It's softcore wrestling...uh, porn," she said. "And it's the corporate titan bear. That's the kind of woman. It's not a 'compassionate woman' year."

Caldwell's Analysis: In this context, Carlson was using McMahon as an example to make a larger point that women running for office in the "Year of the Woman" are running more aggressive campaigns with ambition for higher positions. It's interesting to see what comes to mind for commentators and political pundits when they think "WWE" on the spur-of-the-moment. In this case, the year-long focus on WWE's past TV content during McMahon's Senate campaign was certainly brought back to the surface. It's certainly been a repeat theme during political discussions, with more outsiders-looking-in type commentators grasping the TV content issues, and not necessarily the wrestler health issues.
