On Thursday night's edition of "The Daily Show," Comedy Central host Jon Stewart recapped the Connecticut primary battle between Linda McMahon and her Republican opponents.

Stewart opened by asking, "What about the Connecticut Republican Senate primary, where the proxy war was between the free market, represented by Peter Schiff, and Beyond Thunderdome, represented by former World Wrestling Entertainment CEO Linda McMahon?"

After airing clips of Linda McMahon on Raw taking a swig from a beer can before "Stone Cold" Steve Austin surprised her with a Stunner, Stewart noted inquisitively, "By the way, how does a lady chugging a beer and getting in a beat-down with Steve Austin not get a Sarah Palin 'mama grizzly' designation? Actually the most impressive thing about McMahon's win was her ability to overcome footage from her entire adult professional career."

They showed a clip from McMahon's interview on ABC's "Nightline" where Bill Weir asked her about her daughter, Stephanie McMahon, greeted by "slut" chants from the live audience. Stewart expressed mock outrage about how that was stolen from The Daily Show. He hilariously threw to an old Daily Show episode showing Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid approaching the stage for an interview while being showered by piped-in "slut" chants from the crowd.

Wrapping up the segment, Stewart wanted to know what the primary's theme was since, unlike primary candidates in other states, Linda McMahon was not endorsed by President Obama, Bill Clinton, or Sarah Palin. He turned to a clip from MSNBC's Chuck Todd in which Todd noted that the person who scored the most votes won the primary - obviously, there was no big theme for the night.

Frustrated, Stewart said that listening to political analysis on cable news was worthless. "I always fall for it. I lean in, and what do I get?" Immediately after saying that, they played the shot of Linda McMahon kicking J.R. in the crotch.

Newth's Analysis: Clever, legitimate points by Jon Stewart and the Daily Show team, as usual. It should be noted that Linda McMahon wasn't singled out here. Stewart began by mocking candidates in the Georgia and Colorado primary races first. The entire segment was written to take shots at the absurdity of the "thematic narrative" sought after by political pundits, but more importantly, as build-up to a swipe at cable news.
