WWE Smackdown TV taping report
July 20, 2010
Little Rock, Ark.
Report by Henry Petty, PWTorch reader

Dark Match: Antonio Del Rio beat Kaval. Del Rio basically did a promo making fun of everybody because of his education, and speaking in a foreign language. Then, he said, "Oh, you can't understand me? Would you like me to speak Spanish?" This was pretty funny, then he started speaking Spanish. Del Rio won with a variation of the backstabber.

WWE Superstars taping for Thursday, July 22

(1) MVP (w/Percy Watson) & Chris Masters defeated the Dudebusters (Trent Baretta & Caylen Croft). MVP won with his finisher on Baretta after Masters put Croft in the Masterlock and threw him out of the ring.

(2) Chavo Guerrero defeated JTG with the Frogsplash.

WWE Smackdown Spoilers for Friday, July 23

Kane came out and talked about how he brought the World Title back to the dark side (so I guess Darth Vader is going to be World champ soon). He said he's going to get revenge and find out who put The Undertaker in a vegetative state and unleash hell on that person.

(1) Cody Rhodes & Drew McIntyre defeated Christian and Matt Hardy. McIntyre won with his finisher. Christian and Hardy teased a fight when Christian extended his hand for Hardy. Hardy paused for a while, but finally shook his hand.

Swagger did a backstage promo about how he’s going to beat up Rey in their two-out-of-three falls #1 contender match. I never noticed how much of a lisp Swagger has or embellishes. It's VERY obvious live.

Lay-Cool did a promo and a funny bit where they both opened jewelry boxes. Each had a piece of a broken heart and they were both trying to pronounce who the designer was. They put it together and it said "best friends." Teddy Long then announced Layla will defend the Women's Title next week against Tiffany. Lay-Cool then made fun of Long's dance.

(2) Dolph Ziggler (w/Vickie Guerrero beat IC champion Kofi Kingston (w/Michael McGillicutty) in a non-title match. The finish was Vickie grabbing Kofi's foot, which lead to Ziggler submitting Kingston with a rear choke. Lots of "Moose" chants at Guerrero. Ziggle then took the IC Title belt and tried to leave, but the ref grabbed it back from him.

(3) Big Show defeated SES's Masked Man. It was originally going to be Luke Gallows, but C.M. Punk made the masked man wrestle Big Show. Show punched him and took his mask off, then put it on himself. Very funny. (Editor's note: the masked man was Joey Mercury.)

They aired a vignette with "Dashing" Cody Rhodes doing a spoof of the Kim Kardashian perfume commercial. He talked about nose trimmers instead.

(4) Rey Mysterio beat Jack Swagger 2-1 in a Two-out-of-Three falls #1 contender match for the World Hvt. Title. Mysterio won the first fall, Swagger won the second fall with the anklelock, and Mysterio won the third fall with a top rope dive. In the post-match, Kane interrupted and beat up Swagger. He then teased a fight with Rey, but slowly raised his hand. Kane left, then came back to beat up Rey and chokeslam him. End taping.

In Little Rock, WWE advertised Rey Mysterio vs. Jack Swagger in a cage match for the World title. Teddy Long announced the match will be Big Show vs. Kane in a cage match for the World Title.

Post-SD Dark Match: World Hvt. champion Kane beat Big Show in a cage match. Good cage match, but not what you'd think, as both teased climbing over the top. During the match, Kane hit Show, which caused him to crotch the top rope. Same thing happened to Kane. Kane eventually won when he escaped out of the cage door.

Afterwards, Show addressed the Little Rock crowd, thanked them, and then said, "I've got a bag of ice with my name on it backstage, see you later." Funny ending. Good show, overall.

Biggest Pops - Big Show, Rey Mysterio, and Kane

Biggest Boos - Dolph Ziggler
