WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart blasted Martha Hart, the widow of Bret's brother, Owen Hart, in a Facebook blog today. Hart was responding to Martha's lawsuit filed against WWE and the McMahon Family last week related to WWE's use of Owen's likeness to promote the "Hart & Soul" DVD.

Bret Hart expressed anger over Martha Hart trying to erase Owen Hart's memory from pro wrestling following Owen's death in 1999. Hart said he believes he knows how Owen would want to be remembered more than Martha would.

"I believe Owen would turn in his grave watching Martha erase every single thing he ever did, all for spite," Bret wrote today. "Martha Hart needs to celebrate Owen's memory as much as possible, not block it away forever. How stupid and selfish is that?"

Hart opened his blog saying he thinks it's "ridiculous" Martha Hart is trying to erase Owen's legacy as a pro wrestler.

"I personally believe Martha Hart has done nothing to keep his memory alive and sadly, he fades from view a little more every year. I do suspect this lawsuit is more about publicity, ego, and small-mindedness than it is about pro wrestling and all of those that are in it," Bret wrote.

Bret said he does not talk to Martha and he has not seen Owen's children in ten years. "For what reasons, I couldn't begin to tell you," Bret wrote. "I personally found great inner peace by opening up to forgiveness and instead supported and encouraged current Hart family members now fulfilling their dreams in the complicated-but-astounding world known as the WWE Universe."

Bret included comments defending WWE, which will bring up questions from some people on whether Bret is strongly speaking out against Martha because he worked for WWE in 2010.

"Having worked with all levels of talent since January, I can honestly say that you won't find a more wholesome bunch of athletes anywhere in any profession. Owen would be proud to be part of what they all are," Bret wrote. "Martha can say or think whatever the hell she wants but the Hart family as a whole found a way to forgive and move on for the sake of the next generation's well-being."

Caldwell's Analysis: Throughout his career, Bret Hart has been concerned with how the public perceives him, his family, and the legacy of the Harts in pro wrestling. Martha Hart's values seem to be much different. For personal or other reasons, she has not been concerned with Owen's legacy as a pro wrestler. She would rather have people remember him for everything except for pro wrestling. It appears that a difference in values is the root of this very strong disagreement.
