The campaign for Rob Simmons, who is the primary Republican opponent to former WWE CEO Linda McMahon in the Connecticut Senate race, is looking to capitalize on hype surrounding WrestleMania by drawing attention to the number of wrestlers on the WrestleMania 7 PPV in 1991 who have died since then.

Simmons's campaign is circulating a YouTube video (at the end of the story below) showing the list of wrestlers on the PPV who have died, notes on WWE suspending their drug testing policy in 1996 and re-instating a Wellness Policy in 2006 after the death of Eddie Guerrero, and Linda McMahon's recent reply in a news interview on whether she was satisfied with the health & well-being of WWE wrestlers while she was CEO.

The video notes seven deaths before the age of 50-years-old - "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig, "Big Boss Man" Ray Traylor, "Hawk" Michael Hegstrand, "British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith, "Sensational Sherri" Schrull, "Hercules" Raymond Fernandez, and Brian "Crush" Adams."

The actual total from the WrestleMania 7 card is eleven, as "Texas Tornado" Kerry Von Erich, Dino Bravo, "Earthquake" John Tenta, and "Miss Elizabeth" Hulette can be added to the list as well.

Not every death was related to the "wrestler lifestyle," but Simmons is trying to make the point that Linda McMahon made her fortune to fund her Senate campaign after performers died "from health issues related to illegal drugs and steroids that became pervasive in the WWE while McMahon made hundreds of millions."
