-- The office of Congressman Bobby Rush, who helped Congress's investigation of WWE's drug-testing policy and history of health issues in pro wrestling in 2008, says there will be no further follow-up by Congressional committees on recommendations for independent government oversight.

"Briefly stated, other than continued review by subcommittee staff of the monitoring and enforcement practices of WWE and other professional sports leagues, there are no plans, at this time, for further hearings or congressional actions on this subject," said a spokesman to wrestling author Irv Muchnick.

This was in response to the Hearst Newspaper's report on February 28 on the lack of follow-up to Congress's recommendation for more transparency from WWE.

Caldwell's Analysis: Political agendas change. "Steroids" isn't a big topic with voters back home compared to 2008. The window to focus on independent oversight in WWE closed last year when Congressman Henry Waxman filed his report and recommendation. As sad as this sounds, it might take another high-profile wrestler death for this to become an issue again. It's the unfortunate reality of how this works.

-- Former WWE CEO Linda McMahon will be skipping an Education Committee meeting on Wednesday focusing on a bill that would provide more protection for school athletes who show concussion-like symptoms.

McMahon, who is running for Senator in Connecticut and is on the Board of Education, made a statement through her spokesman, Ed Patru, that McMahon wants to review the bill before offering an opinion.

"She cannot say specifically what her position is on this until she first has a chance to look at the bill and preferably read it," Patru told Hartford Courant reporter Daniela Altimari. "That said, she supports efforts to keep high school athletes safe." The bill can be read here.

The report says the bill would be like Connecticut's own "Wellness Policy" where coaches would be required to complete training on recognizing concussions and a student who suffers a concussion would need medical clearance to return to the sport.

Altimari adds: "You might think the woman whose company created what her spokesman calls 'a very thorough wellness policy' that includes a detailed protocol for preventing and treating head injuries might have something to add to Wednesday's discussion."
