Former WWE and WCW wrestler Shawn Stasiak (known as Meat when he debuted in WWE) is putting his name out in the public with two recent interviews talking about a potential second wrestling run in either WWE or TNA.

Stasiak, who turns 40 this year, says he feels he can contribute to either promotion after slimming down from his muscular physique. Stasiak is currently a professional chiropractor, but he says he would put that to the side for another wrestling run.

"I don’t want to say too much about TNA but I will say that yes, there is definitely a possibility and an interest to join TNA," Stasiak told Alan Wojcik of OWW Radio in a recent interview. "I like their schedule much better than WWE and can see myself having a fresh slate with a new company. I am doing independent shows lately; feel real good in the ring. I am much leaner, a bit lighter on my feet, don’t get blown up and am now seeing and doing things in the ring that I had never done before."

Stasiak also covered historical subjects from his two WWE runs in the late 1990s and early 2000s post-WCW, which he called a joke. He said he feels WCW botched his "Planet Stasiak" gimmick that was a takeoff on Jim Carrey's "Riddler" character from the Batman movies.

Stasiak, who was last with WWE in 2002, says he did not ask for his release, but was fired by WWE VP John Laurinaitis when he expected to be moved to the Smackdown brand.

"Johnny Laurinaitis called me and said that they were releasing me. I was back home visiting friends in Toronto from a loop I had just finished and got the call. I thought it was a joke at first as I had heard rumors that I was being moved to Smackdown, but no it wasn’t a joke, they released me," Stasiak said. "Again, mixed emotion a feeling of betrayal but yet so relieved as I was so frustrated with them for months. And this freed me up to finally go and pursue my other aspiring career as a doctor of chiropractor."

-- In addition to the interview with Alan Wojcik, Stasiak talked to Right After Wrestling on Sirius radio this past Monday. The interview is available for download on the link.

Caldwell's Analysis: Going way back in my memory bank, Stasiak always seemed to be held back in the ring by his muscular physique, just like most big-bodied wrestlers. He was short in the charisma department, too, which is why WWE tried to bring him in with the "Meat" persona. Perhaps with some age under his belt and a slimmed down look he could contribute, but TNA already has a talent glut with only one weekly show and 50+ wrestlers on the roster. For WWE, it would actually be a fun concept on a future NXT season to feature former wrestling stars brought back to see if they can cut it in the ring working with established WWE stars to possibly earn a roster spot. "NXT: Second (or third or fourth) Chance."

Stasiak recently worked an independent show match against Lance Hoyt (Vance Archer) for the PCW promotion out of Dallas. The following is the match in two parts. Take a look at Stasiak's recent work.
