Former WWE CEO Linda McMahon was profiled by ABC News today with McMahon saying she is trying to distance herself from WWE and her husband, Vince McMahon, to establish her own identity as a political candidate for Senator in Connecticut.

"Look, since I resigned as the CEO, he's now the chairman and the CEO. He's pretty much got his hands full," McMahon said. "I think right now it's really very important for me to establish who I am."

ABC added in their report that McMahon's record is under question due to her former position as the CEO of the worldwide leader in pro wrestling, which comes with the baggage of health issues, early wrestler deaths, and a history of steroid abuse.

The item came with a quote from Bruno Sammartino, who questioned the integrity of WWE's TV product and the people who put together the product. McMahon's only reported defense was WWE having 52 weeks of original TV to fill every year and they'll "strike out" once in a while.

"We have pushed the envelope -- not always, you know, successfully, because we can know right away when we push too far. Sponsors let us know," she said. "You're in television; you know what it must be like to create six, seven hours of original television every week -- two hours of which are live -- 52 weeks a year, without any reruns. Sometimes you're gonna be better at it than you are at others."

McMahon added: "As our company has grown and as we have matured and are able to do more and more things, we're much more in tune, much more sensitive, to taking care of these men and women."

Caldwell's Analysis: As long as mainstream reporters are only willing to "bring up the subject" of the history of health issues plaguing the wrestling business, McMahon will continue to offer a token response, perhaps acknowledge "ah shucks, we're off a few times per year," and she won't have to actually give a complete answer on her record over-seeing WWE's business.
